Hello. Today’s new BHC chicken menu I’m introducing is Sweet Chili King. Whenever BHC releases various menus that end with “King,” like KwaSak King and MatCho King, the response has generally been pretty positive. This one, in particular, was launched with the ambitious goal of redefining the idea of classic red-seasoned chicken. I also remember enjoying quite a few of BHC’s releases this year, so I’m quietly looking forward to this one too. Let’s take a closer look at what it’s like.

Sweet Chili King is being promoted with the slogan, “Make the concept of seasoning crispy.” Since seasoned chicken first appeared in Korea, countless versions have been released, but it’s interesting that they’re still trying to present a new concept. They say the goal is to eliminate the sogginess of traditional red-seasoned chicken and keep it crispy to the very end, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I ordered via Coupang Eats for 23,900 KRW and, after a discount, paid 22,900 KRW. Prices may vary slightly depending on the store and app, so keep that in mind. This menu can also be ordered in other options like a combo, boneless, or wings, and it usually costs about 4,000 KRW extra. Since it’s a seasoned chicken, only pickled radish is included, and no additional sauces are provided.

Let’s briefly look at what’s included. As mentioned earlier, this menu is essentially seasoned chicken prepared in a soy-sauce-chicken style, so the overall aroma is closer to a milder, classic seasoned chicken.

Rather than tossing the chicken in sauce like some of BHC’s recent seasoned styles, it seems they apply the sauce to the surface as a coating. This can vary by store and may cause uneven coverage, but as more menus like this come out these days, it seems quality control at the stores is fairly solid.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netThat said, since it’s done by hand, it’s hard to avoid the sauce clinging more to the uneven parts. Anyway, the sauce itself seems fairly concentrated, so the flavor holds up even without applying a lot—true to the concept of maintaining crispiness.

I’ll start with a piece right away. The moment I picked it up, I could feel the crispiness at my fingertips. The signature crunchy wet-batter coating typical of the “King” line is still holding up well. Compared to chicken soaked through with sauce, this crisp bite is really satisfying.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netThe sauce is pretty good too. With a bite, it tastes similar to typical seasoned chicken, but there’s a slight heat in the aftertaste. The sweetness feels a bit toned down. Or maybe it just feels that way because there isn’t a lot of sauce.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netStill, the signature crispiness lasted for quite a long time. I thought it might start out great and then end up the same as usual, but it stayed crunchy almost to the last piece. Of course, I can’t say it’s 100% perfect—fried chicken softens over time too.

It also seems suitable for those who wanted seasoned chicken but hesitated because they were worried about sugar or how heavy it might feel. Of course, I’m not sure how much the overall content actually differs. Personally, if you’re looking for something a bit different, it was an easy menu to recommend.
