Hello! Today, I am introducing CU’s new lunchbox menu, the astonishingly priced 3900 Bomb Rice Bowl Lunchbox 2 Types, Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl and Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl, released as part of the 3900 Rice Bowl series. Not long ago, I reviewed the surprisingly priced Jeonju-style Bibimbap and Sausage Vegetable Rice Bowl released by CU. I remember them being reasonably priced and living up to the name of value-for-money rice bowls, so I immediately purchased this new menu! Let’s find out what kind of menu it is.

3900 Bomb Rice Bowl Lunchbox 2 Types Price and Features
The name Jeonju-style Bibimbap was somewhat confusing as it had no direct relation to Jeonju Bibimbap, but as a convenience store rice bowl lunchbox, it was quite edible and had decent value for money. This time, a new menu has been released with the concept of a simple chicken rice bowl and tuna rice bowl.

Price and Features of Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl
First, the Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl. The price of this menu is still 3900 won! This concept seems to be a lunchbox style often seen in convenience stores, similar to a karaage rice bowl. The main components are chicken and teriyaki mayo, which seems almost certain!

The total content of this menu is 255g, with a calorie count of 521Kcal, and sodium is at 28% of the daily recommended intake. It seems that the calorie count is somewhat high compared to the total content! Still, as a meal, it seems to be a reasonable level for the price! The sodium level is quite low. The chicken used in the sweet and sour chicken is said to be boneless chicken from Thailand, which is often used recently.

Price and Features of Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl
The next menu is the Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl! This menu seems to be a variation of the tuna mayo triangle kimbap with a bit of sauce added to make it suitable for a rice bowl style. The main components are also tuna and teriyaki mayo, which seems almost certain. The price is 3,900 won!

The total content is 232g, with a calorie count of 461Kcal. Sodium accounts for 40% of the daily recommended intake. This menu seems to have a similar content to the karaage rice bowl but slightly lower calories as it does not include fried items. The sodium level is slightly higher, possibly due to the sauce in the tuna rice bowl.

Composition of Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl
Like the previous menu, this menu also comes with a spork as it is a rice bowl menu! There’s no need to request a separate spoon!

Shall we first take a look at the composition of the Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl? As mentioned earlier, I expected it to closely follow the composition of a convenience store karaage rice bowl, and it seems that expectation was correct! It seems that a lot of mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce are included.

These days, instead of traditional sweet and sour chicken, many choose the nanban style, using nanban sauce instead of teriyaki. This menu seems to be closer to a domestically localized style. It features onions and egg strips!

Looking at the amount of chicken inside, it doesn’t feel like a lot, but when eaten with the sauce, it’s not lacking. The amount of rice is also quite substantial, making it a decent simple meal!

Ingredients of Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl
Next, let’s look at the composition of the Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl. This menu was expected to add a sauce suitable for a rice bowl to the well-known tuna mayo triangle kimbap, and it seems that teriyaki sauce was indeed added!

Other than this, the composition doesn’t feel particularly special. Haha, it looks like the rice ball provided before mixing when ordering dishes like chicken feet or spicy pork trotters! Enjoy it in that way, but instead of mixing, it’s better to scoop it with a spoon.

Taste of Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl
Let’s taste it in menu order! I’m planning to taste both menus as I’m hungry. First, I tasted the Chicken Bomb Rice Bowl.

It’s very obvious, but when you add sauce, a bit of egg strips, and chicken to the rice, it perfectly represents the chicken rice bowl, karaage rice bowl you know well. In fact, nothing special was added here, and no awkward nanban style was applied, so it has a taste that fits well!

The portion is adequate, and the chicken is crispy. It provides a definite taste for those who are more familiar with the taste of teriyaki sauce than MSG in convenience store lunchboxes. In terms of value for money, there’s nothing to criticize, making it a recommendable simple meal!

Taste of Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl
Next, let’s taste the Tuna Bomb Rice Bowl. It looks like it should be mixed a bit, but since it’s a rice bowl menu, I’ll just scoop it with a spoon. Haha.

When you put rice, sauce, tuna, and seaweed flakes evenly on a spoon and put it in your mouth, it feels like adding teriyaki sauce to a triangle kimbap, and it feels like taking a bite of a rice ball at a spicy chicken restaurant! Now I see that the sodium slightly exceeding the daily recommended intake was greatly influenced by the seaweed flakes!

The price is reasonable, the value for money is good, and it seems perfect in quantity and taste when eaten with spicy ramen! The taste itself can be stimulating as it includes tuna, mayonnaise, and teriyaki sauce. Surprisingly, some people find tuna mayo greasy. For those people, this menu might not be suitable!

For others (most of you), I think it’s quite a good composition for a simple meal. Personally, I felt that something like Buldak Bokkeum Myun or spicy bibim noodles might be needed rather than just eating this. It would be good to prepare well according to your preference.
