[K-food] Boomchiking(뿜치킹) BBQ

Hello! Today, I’m introducing BBQ’s new menu, the Bboom Chicken, a seasoned chicken menu that BBQ is ambitiously launching after a long time. While many franchises have their own representative seasoned menu, including BHC’s Bburinkle, it seems BBQ has realized they don’t have a standout menu yet, and they are promoting this one quite strongly. Although Hwangol is typically representative of BBQ, it seems they’ve put a lot of effort into this one, so I’m quite looking forward to it. Let’s find out what this menu is all about!

Price and Features of BBQ Bboom Chicken

While preparing for the review, I found that fortunately, Red Chak Chak seems to continue as BBQ’s seasoned menu. It’s been a long time since a new menu was released! This menu might feel a bit cliché, but it seems to be presented as the most popular full-fledged cheese-flavored seasoned menu. It is said to include various flavors of cheddar, gouda, blue, and parmesan cheese. However, even if you order a new menu from BBQ, only pickled radish is provided, and drinks must be purchased separately at a discounted price, and there seems to be no separate dipping sauce.

The regular price for delivery is 25,000 won, but the current discounted price is 24,000 won. An additional 2,000 won is charged for boneless, but BBQ’s boneless consists of 20% thigh meat and 80% breast meat, which isn’t very appealing. An additional 3,000 won is charged for changing to wings or drumsticks. Currently, various delivery apps offer at least a 5% discount, although it varies slightly by store.

Recommended Chicken and Pickled Radish Combination

Composition of BBQ Bboom Chicken

Let’s check the composition, shall we? Even before opening the box, the strong cheese smell is very impressive! The first impression is definitely the generously sprinkled seasoning that stands out!

This menu has a much darker color, possibly due to the many types of cheese compared to existing cheese seasoning menus, or for some other reason. Parsley powder is lightly sprinkled on top.

BBQ Boneless Change Information

The chicken cooking method is BBQ’s unique wave fry, unlike Hwangol, with a thin batter fried style! Under the seasoning, it looks like the oil has drained quite a bit. Previously, seasoning was often sprinkled on wave fries to create a menu, but it seems this is the trend these days!

The amount of seasoning is quite a lot. However, it seems that instead of coating the basket with seasoning, the fried chicken is placed in a box and sprinkled on top. There’s quite a lot on the top, but I’ll have to check how it is on the bottom while eating.

Taste of BBQ Bboom Chicken

Let’s grab a piece and taste it right away. First, I should taste the drumstick, right? The combination of the fatty part and the seasoning is basic, so I’m curious about the taste!

At first, the side with a lot of seasoning feels like this, and it seems closer to BBQ’s style to sprinkle rather than mix while cooking. It was the same with Red Chak Chak, so I understand, but it might be necessary to check if it’s a store-specific difference.

Chicken Composition Information Review

Upon tasting, the part with a lot of seasoning can be enjoyed with a quite strong flavor. The seasoning itself has a very strong cheese taste, with a pungent aroma and salty taste! If you eat the opposite side, it might be a bit bland, but it would be okay to dip it in the seasoning underneath while eating.

BBQ Chicken Beverage Recommendation

However, while eating, the part with excessive seasoning feels too cheesy and a bit overwhelming. Since there’s no sauce like yogurt sauce to balance this taste, like Bburinkle, there’s nothing to accompany it except pickled radish. No matter how strong your tolerance for cheese flavor is, the overwhelming situation will inevitably come, so BBQ should take some action on this!

Personally, I think that in menus with a lot of seasoning, the fatty chicken meat brings out the flavor of the seasoning well. Due to the cooking method, other parts feel too dry except for drumsticks or wings, especially the breast is quite dry. For this reason, the boneless menu seems difficult to try.

BBQ Delivery Service Information

If you don’t prefer chicken breast, I recommend choosing the drumstick menu while you’re at it. The seasoning is very good, but the breast feels dry, making the seasoning and meat feel separate. It would be better to pay a little more and enjoy it properly.

Additionally, since there’s no spiciness at all, it would be best to add an appropriate sauce or pickled radish to prepare for when the cheesy taste becomes overwhelming. Otherwise, it would be good to order an appropriate drink together!

While eating, there might be a lot of seasoning accumulated at the bottom. You can dip into the seasoning at the bottom if it’s lacking, and although it’s not evenly sprinkled, the seasoning itself was not wasted at all. Requesting to have the seasoning evenly coated when ordering might be a good idea. It was a recommendable menu as a decent cheese-flavored seasoned chicken menu!
