It’s a new lineup of the truffle mushroom, a seasonal autumn menu from Burger King! It’s quite unusual to release three lineups at once and then add another lineup with a slight time difference. It seems they are quite confident about this menu! Let’s find out what this menu is all about.
Price and Features of Golden Egg Truffle Mushroom
This menu is said to have added an over-easy style egg to the existing truffle mushroom. It’s introduced as a ‘premium autumn limited new menu with soft over-easy egg (half-cooked egg), rich truffle cream sauce, four kinds of grilled mushrooms, Whopper patty, lettuce, onion, and cheese,’ but considering the existing menu, it doesn’t seem like a big change. Still, I remember the Originals Salted Egg being quite good, so I’m curious about how the combination of the two menus will feel.
The price of this menu is 9,900 won for a single item and 11,900 won for a regular set based on in-store sales. For delivery, it’s 10,800 won for a single item and 13,900 won for a regular set. It’s about 1,000 won more expensive than the regular truffle mushroom Whopper, which could be considered the price of the fried egg. It’s not a cheap price, but since it’s Burger King, it doesn’t feel that expensive. If you get an app discount, you can enjoy it at a reasonable price!
Golden Egg Truffle Mushroom Composition
Let’s take a look at the composition. First, the burger bun seems to use a brioche bun instead of the usual Whopper sesame seed bun. This seems to be going in a similar direction to the Originals menu.
And a notable point in this menu composition is that the over-easy fried egg is placed between the mushrooms and the patty. Also, a slice of cheese, which wasn’t there before, is included! Not all of the 1,000 won was for the egg.
Shall we cut it in half and check the composition? Looking closely, it consists of lettuce, onion, truffle cream sauce, grilled mushrooms, over-easy fried egg, cheese, and beef patty! Surely, almost nothing has changed, right?
The lack of change in the menu composition might be related to the identity of the original menu, so it might be understandable, but I’m curious about how it would feel with the addition of a fried egg!
In the end, the core of this menu seems to be divided into these two: egg and cheese! Let’s focus on what is different compared to the existing menu and what it tastes like!
Golden Egg Truffle Mushroom Taste
I took a bite right away. The first thing I noticed was the basic cream sauce scent of the truffle mushroom, the grilled mushrooms, and the taste of the beef patty! It felt less impressive than expected, but…
As I kept chewing, the salty taste of the salted egg, the soft egg taste, and the cheese gradually mixed, giving the feeling of acting like a sauce.
Here, the unique taste of the egg surprisingly complemented the slightly lacking salty taste in the existing truffle mushroom menu. Was it just my egg that had a lot of salt? Also, the strong truffle scent (not real truffle) felt slightly reduced.
The egg scent was very subtle, but it seemed to change the overall flavor of the menu slightly while being well-balanced, making it taste quite good. It might suit those who like the existing truffle mushroom but find it a bit too greasy to finish!
Still, the essence of this menu is ultimately the truffle mushroom, so it might not be very appealing to those who didn’t like the existing truffle mushroom. Those who found the deep truffle mushroom too greasy and the hot truffle mushroom not appealing because only the sauce changed, but still thought the original was the best, might enjoy it.
Personally, even though only the salted egg and cheese were added, I was able to enjoy it very deliciously! Since it’s released as a seasonal limited menu, it might be good to try it before the end of the year!
