[K-food] ‘Hyeja’ Chuseok Holiday Lunchbox GS25

Hello! Today, I am introducing GS25’s new 2025 Chuseok menu, the Generous Home-cooked Chuseok Holiday Lunchbox released as part of the generous home-cooked lineup! This Chuseok holiday lunchbox was first introduced by GS25! It was released just a week before the holiday, so it was the first to be tasted, but it was so popular that it was always in short supply, and I could only purchase it right before the holiday. Still, it was worth buying as the composition looks quite abundant! So, let’s find out what menu it is!

Price and Features of the Chuseok Holiday Lunchbox

Among the four major convenience store franchises, GS25 was the first to introduce this Chuseok special lunchbox! Emart24 and Seven Eleven each released one just before the holiday, and CU prepared a lineup from triangular kimbap to assorted jeon menu, but the release was slightly delayed! So, I got to review this menu first! The price is 6,600 won, which is somewhat high as it is a special lunchbox.

The total weight of this menu is 534g! The calorie content is 976Kcal, and sodium accounts for 86% of the daily recommended intake. The calorie content is quite high compared to the content. It seems to be more than enough for one meal. Haha, it’s quite hefty among most convenience store lunchboxes!

Composition of the Chuseok Holiday Lunchbox

Shall we check the composition? Like the one released during the 2025 New Year, this lunchbox is composed of 9 compartments. It seems slightly similar but with some minor changes.

The most noticeable change is this rice cake! The previous menu did not include dessert rice cake (it might have been in the CU lunchbox!), but this time it was included instead of a side dish!

Previously, it was composed of kimchi fried rice, black rice, and hijiki abalone rice, but this time, steamed chestnuts were added on top of white rice instead of hijiki abalone rice. The thick tteokgalbi and japchae seem to be naturally included as they are holiday foods!

Although jeon itself was included, instead of vegetable jeon, kimchi jeon, and potato jeon, this time it was changed to five-color jeon, kimchi jeon, and donggeurangttaeng! Soy sauce bulgogi was changed to gochujang bulgogi in a pork style. The meat is pork!

Finally, previously, a variety of jeon including bellflower root, bracken, and spinach was included, but this time it was simply changed to a combination of bellflower root and bracken namul and bellflower root salad. Kimchi fried rice, which was not much related to the holiday, was kept as it is! Haha

Taste of the Chuseok Holiday Lunchbox

Let’s taste it right away. Although it is similar to the New Year holiday lunchbox, the combination has changed slightly, so the taste or impression might be different! I’m quite looking forward to it. Haha

First of all, if you like tteokgalbi or neobiani types included in convenience store lunchboxes like me, you will definitely like this tteokgalbi!

The slightly grilled texture was well implemented, and the size was quite thick (it seems thicker than the New Year menu!), making it quite nice to eat. The seasoning was just right, making it a perfect rice thief.

The japchae seemed to be a decent side dish for the lunchbox! However, since the vegetables included were only carrots and mushrooms and there was no meat, it was a bit bland to eat without rice. It was just suitable as a side dish!

Although it was only about two chopsticks’ worth, this time the meat side dish was changed from soy sauce bulgogi to gochujang bulgogi! Compared to the rice, the other side dishes were a bit bland, but thanks to this side dish, it was nice to eat together!

This menu was composed of three types: five-color jeon, kimchi jeon, and donggeurangttaeng, and since they are frozen products, the taste was just ordinary. The seasoning was slightly milder than expected, and it was decent to eat with rice.

Overall, this menu, like the previous one, is composed of 9 side dishes, and although the combination has changed slightly, it was decent. The 9 side dishes are gathered like an assorted lunchbox, making it easy to pick and eat various things, but the side dishes felt a bit separate from each other. Still, each side dish was edible, and it was filling enough for a meal!

The rice cake included as a dessert was a mugwort glutinous rice cake with sweet red bean paste! Changing one side dish to a dessert was the best part of this lunchbox! Haha
