The new lunchbox menu from CU that I will introduce today is the Topping Up! Overwhelming Bulgogi and Kimchi Set, newly released as part of the ‘Overwhelming Series’. While the previous Overwhelming lunchbox menu focused on increasing the portion of the main dish or the quantity of single-item menus, this new menu offers a unique concept of providing two dishes in one lunchbox. As expected from the Overwhelming Series, the portion is quite substantial. Let’s take a closer look at what this menu offers.

Price and Features of Bulgogi and Kimchi Set
With the official re-release of the CU Overwhelming Series, I thought they were renewing and re-releasing previously discontinued menus! But they immediately introduced this new menu. CU never releases just one menu when launching the Overwhelming Series, so I’m quite curious about what other menus will come out in the future. ㅎㅎ This menu offers a unique concept of enjoying Bulgogi Pasta and Kimchi Fried Rice in one lunchbox! The price is 5,900 won.

The feature of this menu is described as ‘Fried egg on kimchi rice! A plate full of sweet and savory bulgogi on pasta with a delightful garlic aroma’. Honestly, there have been menus in the past that offered pasta and rice together, but releasing it as an official menu is quite unique! It’s also fascinating to see such a substantial portion being offered!

The total content weight of this menu is 398g, with a calorie count of 769Kcal and sodium at 93% of the daily recommended intake. Considering the price of 5,900 won, the portion is quite large. However, since more than half of the menu consists of pasta, the calorie count is somewhat lower compared to menus centered around rice or meat and fried items.

Overwhelming Composition of Bulgogi and Kimchi Set
Let’s take a quick look at the menu composition. This menu consists of a total of 3 side dishes with two main dishes! Although it is a formal set meal, the three side dishes seem to be just enough to accompany the meal!

First, one of the main dishes is the Garlic Oil Pasta + Bulgogi menu. Looking at the portion, it seems slightly more than the 1+1 concept menu. The amount of bulgogi topping is also quite substantial. It’s a bit greasy and clumped together before cooking, but it should be fine after microwaving!

The other main dish is Kimchi Fried Rice with a Fried Egg. The egg is an easy-over style fried egg, commonly seen in convenience store lunchboxes. Upon closer inspection, the kimchi fried rice does contain kimchi, so it doesn’t seem to be a menu that only mimics the color. ㅎㅎ

The side dishes consist of stir-fried kimchi, corn mayo salad, and a halved grilled sausage. Although there are three side dishes, they are quite simple, right? ㅎㅎ However, since the two main dishes have distinct concepts and are seasoned to some extent, not having many side dishes shouldn’t be a big issue!

Overwhelming Taste of Bulgogi and Kimchi Set
Let’s start the tasting right away. This overwhelming menu provides a satisfying fullness regardless of the calorie count, making it quite enjoyable. Let’s focus on whether the taste is just right for this menu!

First, the Garlic Oil Pasta and Bulgogi menu. As you saw earlier, the bulgogi, which was a bit thickened, melted a lot during the cooking process. I mixed the sauce and oil well with the pasta and took a bite, and the combination of soy sauce bulgogi and pasta was surprisingly good!

The garlic aroma is quite strong, but it’s the sweet garlic aroma we know, without any fishy taste. It blends really well with the bulgogi! The seasoning is just right, and the portion is sufficient, making it a delicious and filling menu.

Next, I took a small bite of the Kimchi Fried Rice with the egg. It’s exactly as it looks! Unlike some menus that only mimic the color without actually including kimchi, this one contains finely chopped kimchi, making it a delicious kimchi fried rice menu. ㅎㅎ

Upon closer inspection, there is some ham in the kimchi, so there was no problem in recreating the taste! This menu is also seasoned to some extent, so I didn’t think of eating the side dishes separately when eating it with the pasta. ㅎㅎ

Don’t be like me and eat almost all the other menus; make sure to have the side dishes together. You might think, “Kimchi Fried Rice and Bulgogi Pasta?” but the slightly spicy taste and the sweet and savory pasta combination were unexpectedly good. At this lunchbox price, with this quality and portion, I highly recommend it as a satisfying meal.
