[K-food] Overwhelmingly New ‘Handon Kimchi Jeyuk’ CU

Hello! Today, I am introducing CU’s new lunchbox menu, the returning renewed menu, Overwhelming New Korean Pork Kimchi Stir-fry. Among the overwhelming series, the Korean Pork Kimchi Stir-fry, which sold a lot or even more than the Korean Pork Soy Sauce Bulgogi, has been re-released! It was a product that was quite popular because it was full of generous kimchi stir-fry, so it seems to have been renewed along with the massive release of the overwhelming series! Let’s check out what kind of menu it is right away!

CU New Korean Pork Kimchi Stir-fry Price and Features Overwhelming

As CU’s lunchbox release cycle continues to rotate in the order of One Meal Satisfaction, School Meal Master, and Overwhelming, a lot of menus have been released as the overwhelming season starts again! The Korean Pork Kimchi Stir-fry, which was released around this time in 2024 but was discontinued, has been re-released. The weight is still 20% compared to similar menus of the company, and the price is the same as before the renewal at 5,900 won.

The total content is 408g, with a calorie count of 819Kcal and sodium at 74% of the daily recommended intake. Before the renewal, it was 442g with a calorie count of 890Kcal. It seems that the price had to be maintained by slightly adjusting the quantity as food prices have risen significantly over the year.

CU New Korean Pork Kimchi Stir-fry Composition Overwhelming

So, let’s check together what has changed in the menu compared to before the renewal? At first glance, it didn’t seem to have changed much, but there were some slight changes compared to the soy sauce bulgogi menu, which was really minimally renewed.

Microwave Cooking Method

The main menu is Kimchi Stir-fry! As the name suggests, it uses Korean pork, and the part used is the hind leg. The generous-looking amount in the thick sauce remains the same! In fact, compared to the previous menu photos, the pork content doesn’t seem to have changed much, and the lettuce used as decoration at the bottom is gone!

The side menu includes three items: tofu fry, stir-fried fish cake, and pickled radish. Originally, there were four side items, but one pink sausage that was in the same compartment as the tofu fry has been removed. The MD who composed the menu seems to have decided that it could be there or not. Haha

Another small change is that the sliced ham that was originally placed on top of the rice has been reduced from 3 slices to 2! It was surprisingly tasty, so it’s a bit disappointing. Haha

However, the style and quantity of the Kimchi Stir-fry have not changed significantly. There may be very slight changes, but it seems that they have stuck to the main menu while adjusting one or two side items!

CU Overwhelming New Korean Pork Kimchi Stir-fry Taste

Then we should check if the taste is similar, right!? I tried it right after simply cooking it in the microwave.

Kimchi Stir-fry Sauce State

After microwaving the Kimchi Stir-fry, the thick-looking sauce slightly melted, making the sauce a bit more abundant! However, it’s not the type that produces a lot of sauce!

When it comes to Kimchi Stir-fry, some might worry that there might be more kimchi than pork, but the overwhelming series is very sincere about the amount of meat, so I don’t think there was ever a menu that played such a trick in my memory. The amount of meat is quite generous, and there was no attempt to increase the quantity with cabbage.

The taste is moderately spicy and not overly stimulating, making it a classic convenience store Kimchi Stir-fry that goes well with rice. With a bite of meat and a bite of rice, you can quickly finish a meal.

Although it’s only 2 slices(?), it was nice that they didn’t completely remove the option to wrap rice with sliced ham! Haha After cooking in the microwave, the oil seeps out, making it surprisingly tasty!

The tofu fry, which has a mild taste that goes well with slightly salty stir-fry, is still there. If you feel the taste is a bit salty, eating it with rice will make that feeling disappear! Haha

Overall, it was still a very good choice for a meal with a hearty amount and decent taste! Although it was renewed, it seems like a good choice not to drastically reduce the quantity or change the menu! If you’re looking for a hearty and adequate meal, it’s a highly recommended menu!
