Hello! Today, I would like to introduce CU’s new burger menu, the Parmesan Chicken Burger, a collaboration with Chef Kwon Sung-jun of ‘Napoli Mafia’. After the trend of black and white chefs passed, and with Napoli Mafia presenting various collaboration menus, I thought no new menu would come out, but this unexpected menu was released! It is said to be a well-balanced combination of Parmesan cheese and chicken burger with added tomato sauce! I couldn’t resist purchasing this collaboration with Chef Kwon Sung-jun, who is known for making this style of menu well! Let’s find out what kind of menu it is!

Parmesan Chicken Burger Price and Features
Separate from the yet-to-be-determined release date of Black and White Chef Season 2, the chefs from Season 1 are still actively working. This menu was somewhat unexpectedly introduced by CU. Although they did start pre-sales a week ago!

This menu uses cheese paste, chicken thigh patty, various cheeses, and tomato paste sauce, and it is said to have captured the Italian feel properly under the supervision of an Italian professional chef! The price is 4,900 won, which is relatively high among convenience store burgers, and it is released in a box instead of the usual plastic wrap.

The total content is 195g, with a calorie count of 472Kcal, and sodium at 54% of the daily recommended intake. I don’t know how excellent the taste is, but it seems sufficient for a light meal! For reference, the chicken thigh is sourced from Thailand.

Parmesan Chicken Burger Composition
Let’s take a quick look at the composition. When you open the box, the burger itself is right there without any additional packaging! When you take it out, you can immediately see that it is a chicken burger composed of cheese, sauce, and a chicken patty!

Before checking, I thought it would be better to have the processed cheese slightly melted, so I cooked it in the microwave right away! A quick look at the side shows that the patty itself is not that big, probably because it uses chicken thigh patty, but it seems to have a decent composition for a convenience store burger.

With the cheese melted, the visual looks quite nice, but we should cut it in half to check the composition in detail, right? On top, there is tomato sauce, sliced cheese (likely cheddar cheese), fried chicken thigh patty, lettuce, and cheese sauce.

The tomato sauce seems to be a thick paste type, and according to the ingredient list, the cheese sauce appears to use various cheese pastes like Parmesan and Romano!

With cheese sauce and tomato paste, along with sliced cheese, it seemed like a chicken burger with a slight pizza taste. Since it is a menu developed by Chef Kwon Sung-jun, one of the popular chefs in Korea, the taste is likely guaranteed! I’m quite looking forward to it.

Parmesan Chicken Burger Taste
Let’s taste it right away. The size is smaller than a Big Mac, and it seems to be aimed at the size of a Shanghai Chicken Burger. The quantity seems appropriate.

When you take a bite, you can definitely feel the umami of the tomato sauce, and it was a menu where the slightly pungent but savory cheese taste was the strongest!

I thought it might be quite greasy with a lot of cheese, but surprisingly, the vegetables were adequately included, and the umami of the tomato somewhat balanced the cheese taste, so it wasn’t as greasy as expected. Of course, it’s not very spicy or full of vegetables, so this part may vary from person to person!

Looking at the composition, it might seem close to a pizza taste, but if you ask if it tastes like pizza, not quite. The chicken patty takes up a significant portion of the taste, so it feels a bit different compared to ham or meat-flavored pizzas.

Overall, it has a decent taste, and considering it’s a convenience store burger, it was a menu you could enjoy quite well. It was a product that left a bit of regret, thinking it could have been a better menu if released by an ordinary chicken burger franchise.

With a bold menu composition through collaboration with a famous chef, it was a menu that was quite good in terms of taste and cost-effectiveness, making it worth trying for those who prefer convenience store burgers. It was a menu I could personally recommend!
