Hello! Today, I’m introducing CU’s new lunchbox menu, which is a convenience store pasta with added ragu, called Thick Ragu Cheese Pasta. Now you can enjoy ragu pasta from a convenience store lunchbox! Personally, I love making and eating ragu sauce, from simmered to very thick, so I’m quite looking forward to it. Let’s find out what the convenience store ragu pasta is like.

CU Thick Ragu Cheese Pasta Price and Features
Finally, pasta with ragu sauce has appeared in convenience stores. However, ragu pasta itself is not entirely new. It was released earlier this year as a special menu for Baek Jong-won’s 10th anniversary, not as a refrigerated ready-to-eat meal. I was happy to buy it again this time, but thinking back, it seems similar to that time. The price of this menu is 4,900 won.

It’s also to check if this menu is a repeat. The concept of ‘ragu sauce with cheese and minced meat’ is similar, but I remember it being something with minced meat in a slightly thick chili tomato sauce rather than a real ragu sauce simmered with meat for a long time. I was curious if there was any change this time.

This menu weighs 363g in total, with 590Kcal, and sodium is 64% of the daily recommended intake. The previous Baek Jong-won 10th anniversary Ragu Cheese Pasta was 362g, 590Kcal, 64% of the daily recommended sodium intake, and priced at 4,900 won. It seems like a menu for CU’s separation from Baek Jong-won. In fact, the ingredient names are exactly the same!

CU Thick Ragu Cheese Pasta Components
Since I have to review it, and for those who are seeing this menu for the first time, let’s look at the components. The basic composition is pasta noodles cooked once, topped with ragu sauce and snowflake cheese.

If the minced meat in the previous menu was quite clumped, this menu feels a bit more ground, and the amount of cheese seems slightly reduced. Back then, it almost completely covered the sauce!

Perhaps because the meat is ground more finely, it feels more like a very chili sauce than a ragu sauce. It seems like it would go well with a hot dog bun and sausage without any awkwardness.

Taste of CU Thick Ragu Cheese Pasta
First, I cooked it in a 1000W microwave for about 2 minutes. Once cooking is done, the cheese melts moderately, and the ragu sauce becomes slightly mushy, making it easy to mix.

Although ragu sauce doesn’t have to be this way, when you mix the pasta and sauce overall, it feels like this. Contrary to appearances, the sauce itself doesn’t feel lacking. I took a bite right away!

It feels almost the same as the previous menu! Although the minced meat is a bit more finely chopped, it still has a strong feeling of eating chili dog sauce with pasta, perhaps due to the less finely chopped details blending with the chili sauce meat.

If you have high standards for ragu sauce, you might wonder if this is really ragu, but the basic taste is quite good. In fact, if you think of it as eating chili dog sauce with pasta, it would taste quite nice!

Although it’s not an entirely new menu and is essentially the same menu with Baek Jong-won removed, it doesn’t feel new! Still, it’s meaningful that they re-released a cost-effective convenience store pasta lunchbox without completely discontinuing it!

Previously offered as a special menu, it has now changed to a regular pasta lunchbox menu. Nevertheless, the basic taste is still good, and the price remains unchanged, making it a good lunchbox to eat. If you like ragu pasta, it’s worth trying at least once, and I think even those who just like pasta will be quite satisfied with this menu.
