[K-Food] Snowfox Moist Gyudon CU

Hello! Today, I am introducing CU’s new lunchbox menu, the second product in the Snowfox lunchbox series, Snowfox Moist Gyudon. We already reviewed the first menu, the Karaage Rice Bowl. Since it was a light meal option, I decided to purchase the second menu as well. Unlike the slightly light Karaage Rice Bowl, this time it’s Gyudon, so my expectations are quite high. Let’s take a look at what this menu offers.

Taste After Cooking Detailed Description

Price and Features of Snowfox Moist Gyudon

The CU Snowfox series is presented by the premium lunchbox franchise Snowfox with a concept of light and convenient lunchboxes. This Moist Gyudon menu is launched with the concept of ‘a base of white rice topped with moist stir-fried beef bulgogi and onions.’ The price is 5,300 won, which feels slightly higher compared to the light rice bowl lunchboxes I’ve tried before.

Place the ingredients on the rice, remove the lid and inner film, and cook in the microwave at 1000W for 1 minute and 30 seconds! The total content is 289g, with 447Kcal, and sodium is 31% of the daily recommended intake. The sodium content is lower than expected, so it might not be too salty, but the content and calories seem quite light. Since this menu is also a rice bowl lunchbox, it includes a plastic spork!

Composition of Snowfox Moist Gyudon

Let’s take a quick look at the composition. This menu also has the rice and toppings separated! The top compartment is filled with beef bulgogi gyudon with plenty of onion toppings. Is the portion adequate?

This menu is said to use soy sauce and gyudon sauce! It has a texture similar to beef bulgogi but seems to have captured a unique taste!

Thin Beef Bulgogi Cooking State

Opening the lid reveals the white rice inside. The paper container of the Snowfox lunchbox remains unchanged! It looks like something you would use directly in the store later.

I placed the gyudon on the rice and cooked it directly in the microwave. Compared to regular bulgogi rice bowls, the unique aroma of the gyudon sauce was quite strong in addition to the soy sauce scent!

The teriyaki scent seems a bit strong! Although I need to taste it to know for sure, it seems they paid a lot of attention to the basic flavor implementation.

Convenience Store Stability Review

The Moist Taste of Snowfox Gyudon

Let’s take a bite right away. The meat didn’t clump together after cooking! I took a big spoonful without mixing it separately and ate it with the rice.

Gyudon Sauce Taste Change Comparison

It was quite different from regular beef bulgogi in terms of soy sauce aroma, and the sweetness of the gyudon sauce was noticeable. Although the sodium content is 31%, making it seem mild, the gyudon itself was salty enough to enjoy with rice.

For those who like gyudon, some may prefer the chewy texture of the meat! Unfortunately, since it’s a convenience store lunchbox, the meat was very thin and slightly oily, so there wasn’t much chewiness.

The crunchiness of the onion topping somewhat compensated for this. The identity as a rice bowl is clear, making it a good menu to enjoy by scooping up the gyudon and rice together.

Recommended for Gyudon Lovers

However, the price of 5,300 won still feels like a psychological barrier. With many rice bowl lunchboxes priced around 3,900 won these days, this feeling is even stronger. Nevertheless, the taste was quite enjoyable.

Considering the value for money, it’s hard to strongly recommend, but as a menu itself, it was a decent meal option. For those who are not satisfied with the composition of cheap value-for-money rice bowl lunchboxes these days, this menu could be a pretty good alternative!
