[K-Food] Squid Alive Spicy Stir-fried Noodles 7-Eleven

Hello! Today, I’m introducing a new cup noodle lunchbox menu from 7-Eleven, a unique collaboration with Lotteria. It’s called Squid Alive Spicy Stir-fried Noodles. The concept of using burger sauce as noodle sauce seems quite unique. It might be a menu possible because both 7-Eleven and Lotteria are part of the Lotte group. Let’s find out what this menu is all about.

Price and Features of Squid Alive Spicy Stir-fried Noodles

At first, I thought Squid Alive Spicy Stir-fried Noodles was just a squid stir-fried noodle with the same name as Lotteria’s burger menu, but I was a bit surprised to see a burger on the packaging. I can clearly understand the concept. It is sold at 7-Eleven for 1,900 won each. Since it’s an exclusive PB product, the 2+1 event seems to continue.

In fact, after Squid Game Season 3, various menus have appeared, such as Squid Bibim Noodles, Squid Ink Bibim Noodles, and Squid Soup Noodles. It seems like a menu that shifted to a collaboration with its own Squid Alive Burger after missing the initial launch timing. Among convenience stores, GS25 participated as an official sponsor, so they might have waited for other menus to disappear one by one.

Cup Noodle Cooking Method Introduction

The total content of this menu is 107g, with a calorie count of 430Kcal. The sodium level is 61% of the daily recommended intake, which is reasonable for typical bibim noodles. The cooking method is simple: pour hot water without using a microwave, cook for 3 minutes and 30 seconds, then add the sauce and mix well.

Composition and Cooking Method of Squid Alive Spicy Stir-fried Noodles

Let’s quickly check the composition and start cooking. When you open the cup noodle lid, you can see the noodles and sauce separately! The sauce is in liquid form, and there’s only one packet!

Of course, the ingredients are under the noodles. It includes bok choy, carrots, and a small amount of squid flakes, which seems like an effort to maintain the concept!

The cooking method is very simple! Open the lid, pour hot water, and cook for just 3 minutes and 30 seconds. After draining all the hot water, add the sauce and mix.

The liquid sauce wasn’t as thick as expected, so it mixed well without any issues. However, the spicy aroma felt a bit strong. I’m not sure if this will be okay. Haha.

Taste of Squid Alive Spicy Stir-fried Noodles

I expected a slightly spicy taste and took a bite right away! It was spicier than expected. It’s not so spicy that it’s inedible, but it seemed to be as spicy as Buldak Bokkeum Myeon or slightly spicier.

Uniquely, it wasn’t a gradually building spiciness but rather a strong spicy taste felt almost immediately upon eating. So, the fortunate part is that there’s no cumulative damage, so to speak? Haha. However, if you ask if there are any similarities in taste with the Squid Alive Burger, it’s hard to tell.

Simple Cooking Method Cup Noodle Introduction

Anyway, personally, I felt that if I ate this menu alone, I would definitely regret it, so I had to drink milk in between. The Lotteria Squid Alive Burger was spicy, but the sauce wasn’t this intense, so I’m not sure why it became so spicy.

So after eating, I tried wrapping the small remaining portion in seaweed, and it tasted quite good this way. If you buy some seasoned seaweed from the convenience store and eat it together, it would taste quite nice. The sauce wasn’t as sweet as expected, so it surprisingly paired well with the seaweed.

I also quite like the flavor of squid sauce, so I tend to enjoy squid noodles! This menu was spicier than expected, so there were fewer opportunities to fully appreciate or savor the seafood taste. If it were slightly less spicy, I would have personally liked it more, but since some people might enjoy this level of spiciness, it would be good to consider that when trying it!
