Hello! Today, I’m introducing McDonald’s new lunchbox menu that fits perfectly with the Christmas season and the truffle trend: the Christmas Truffle Cheese Burger. Released as a premium menu for the year-end, it is said to use a new patty with a special texture and the deep aroma of truffles. The composition looks quite good, and the thick visual is subtly appealing, so I bought it right away. Let’s find out what kind of menu it is.

Christmas Truffle Cheese Burger Price and Features
Burger King releases the Truffle Mushroom Whopper every fall, and adding truffle aroma to burgers has become a trend! Until 2024, there wasn’t much response, but this year, similar menus seem to be appearing a lot. McDonald’s also introduced a truffle menu as a year-end menu to keep up. Since it’s a menu targeting the Christmas season, expectations are high.

The newly introduced menu includes the Christmas Truffle Cheese Burger, Christmas Hot Truffle Cheese Burger, and Christmas Truffle Cheese Muffin, three in total! First, let’s check the price of the burger. By installing the McDonald’s app and signing up, you can receive a coupon for a discount, and thanks to McLunch, you can enjoy it slightly cheaper than the regular price. There might be additional discounts as the Christmas season approaches. I ordered the Christmas Truffle Cheese Burger large set.

Christmas Truffle Cheese Burger Components
Let’s take a look at the components! Since it’s a premium menu released for the Christmas season, it’s quite thick. However, I heard that it’s been difficult to supply lettuce recently, so it seems like romaine, which is not usually added, is mixed in. It seems like a much better choice than removing lettuce altogether or adding cabbage!

The first thing to note is the ‘Aligot Croquette’ located at the bottom! At first glance, it looks similar to the existing whole mozzarella fried patty, doesn’t it? In fact, except for this, it looks similar to a cheeseburger with vegetables in appearance. Haha.

Let’s cut it in half and take a closer look at the composition. For such a thick hamburger, the structure is quite stable, so there was no big difficulty in cutting it in half!

When cut in half, the composition is clearly revealed, showing lettuce, tomato, truffle ranch sauce, beef patty, American cheese, and the Aligot croquette with potatoes and cheese from top to bottom.

Strictly speaking, it’s not a burger with actual truffles, but a menu with truffle aroma added! This aroma mainly comes from the white truffle ranch sauce on top, which also seems to serve as a vegetable dressing. I’m curious about how strong the aroma will be.

One of the biggest features of this menu is this croquette! In Europe, croquettes are served at Christmas dinners or made using leftovers. It’s a somewhat unfamiliar concept in Korea, but if it tastes good, it might be okay.

Christmas Truffle Cheese Burger Taste
Let’s taste it right away. First, the thickness was quite thick, making it a bit burdensome to take a bite, but there were no ingredients spilling out, so there was no big difficulty in eating it. Haha.

The beef patty feels a bit different from the usual Big Mac patty, and the crispy grilled patty’s texture was quite strong, even more so than the croquette. It might have felt that way because I’ve been reviewing only Shanghai and Big Mac series menus recently.

The truffle aroma and croquette aroma are quite intense! The overall taste was decent, but as I ate, the truffle aroma, vegetables, and croquette felt a bit separate. Since it’s not a menu focused on truffle aroma like the Truffle Mushroom Whopper, this might be a characteristic of the menu.

The Aligot croquette is basically a potato croquette with cheese, making it quite soft. As you eat, you can feel the patty taste, truffle aroma, and croquette taste in order, and it’s somewhat understandable that the combination of meat taste, truffle flavor, and the savory taste of potatoes is not easily imaginable.

The overall taste was quite good, and I personally enjoyed it, but the biggest issue is a slight greasiness. It seems that the spicy version was released separately because there is no element to counteract this greasiness in this menu. I should try the spicy version later.

In terms of quality, it’s quite good, and the price didn’t feel as expensive as expected (these days, even if a new burger menu exceeds 10,000 won for a set, it’s understandable). What do you think? It’s recommended to some extent, so if you’re curious, it might be worth trying!
