Hello. Today I’m introducing CU’s new lunchbox menu, Overwhelming Bulgogi & Spicy Pork Set Meal. It seems to be one of the last items in the 2025 “Overwhelming” hearty-meal series. After this, I’ll probably be reviewing the Overwhelming series again sometime in 2026. This one also looks even more generous than other lunchboxes. Let’s take a look at what it’s like.

Overwhelming Bulgogi & Spicy Pork Set Meal price and features

In 2025, quite a lot of bulgogi and spicy pork–related items were released under the Overwhelming series. This one seems to be built around the concept of bulgogi and spicy pork side dishes with 1.5x more meat than CU’s existing menus. The description says it’s a “legendary 600g-class lunchbox,” so I thought that meant the meat alone, but it seems to refer to the total weight. As you’d expect from the Overwhelming series, the price is a bit high at 6,400 won.

As mentioned earlier, the total contents of this menu are 600g. It has 952 kcal, and sodium is 74% of the recommended daily intake. The calories are already very similar to premium lunchboxes with 11 or 12 side dishes at 952 kcal. You can also see that carbs, fat, and protein are all included in fairly high amounts.

Let’s quickly go over what’s inside. This menu has a total of seven side dishes: two mains and five sides. The mains are, as expected, soy-sauce bulgogi and gochujang spicy stir-fried pork.

The bulgogi looks like a “bulbaek” style made with short rib meat and a soy-based sauce. There’s a bit of onion underneath, and it also seems to include some vegetables like green onion and carrot.

The spicy pork is said to use pork shoulder and a gochujang sauce, with a layer of sautéed onions underneath. The vegetables seem to be mostly green onion.

Both meat dishes are cooked with thinly sliced cuts, so they seem likely to release a bit of sauce. It feels ideal for scooping a little at a time to eat with rice, or mixing it in with a spoon. Maybe that’s why the rice looks more plentiful than in other menus. Or is it just me?

There are five side dishes: stir-fried zucchini, kimchi, stir-fried fish cake, two slices of pink sausage, and one piece of rolled omelet.

The kimchi isn’t stir-fried, so it’s separated into its own compartment so you can keep it apart during heating. The other sides are common items you often see in convenience-store lunchboxes. Rather than being unique, they seem chosen to pair comfortably with the main dishes.

Let’s dig in. Since this menu focuses on portion size, this will likely be a pretty straightforward review rather than one about a unique flavor or concept. (That’s generally been the case with the Overwhelming series.) I’ll start with the main dishes.

First, the bulgogi. As mentioned earlier, after heating, plenty of sauce seeped out. The meat was tenderized to a nice softness, and the seasoning was well done, making it a great match with rice. With a spoon, it was also nice to scoop up the onions underneath and mix them into the rice.

The spicy stir-fried pork didn’t release as much sauce as expected, and it was cooked in a slightly flame-grilled style. The onions underneath were fine to eat, but unlike the bulgogi, they didn’t add any particular advantage. This part will come down to personal preference.

This lunchbox also had generous portions of the other sides, and nothing tasted overly salty or spicy. Overall, it was a very approachable lineup that made for a satisfying meal without overthinking it.

Pink sausage, stir-fried fish cake, and stir-fried zucchini are all items I always make sure to eat when they show up in a convenience-store lunchbox. Another reason I enjoyed this meal was that everything tasted good, with nothing that felt like filler.

After the recently released Overwhelming series, CU has started rolling out the “Made with Care” series, whether as a brief breather or as part of a refresh. The 6,400 won price may feel a bit steep, but the portion is quite large and the flavors are reliably good, making it a menu item that’s hard to pass up. If you pick it as a one-meal option at a convenience store, you likely won’t regret it, and it’s a quietly recommendable choice.
