Hello! Today, I’m introducing a new lunchbox menu from CU, the somewhat unfamiliar Potato Cream Curry Udon. While CU has occasionally released curry rice or curry udon-related menus, a combination that includes potato, cream, curry, and udon is quite new. However, curry lunchboxes are always welcome, so I gladly decided to try it. Let’s take a look at what this menu is all about!

Price and Features of CU Potato Cream Curry Udon
When I first heard the name of this menu, I was a bit confused whether it was ‘Potato Cream Curry Udon’ or ‘Potato Cream Curry Udon’! Anyway, it seems like a pretty unique menu has been released. I thought a new menu related to potatoes was released together, but I was surprised to find out it wasn’t!

The concept of this menu is said to be ‘a noodle dish that gives a soft and cozy feeling by adding potato cream to curry udon.’ It is said to be a menu with potato cream and curry in Sanuki noodles. So it seems ‘Potato Cream’ is correct!

The total content is 333g, and the calorie count is 475Kcal. Sodium is at 63% of the daily recommended intake. Looking at the ingredients, you can see that the sauce includes curry powder, potato powder, and starch. Also, it contains onions, meat, carrots, and potatoes as vegetables, so it seems like the taste will be well preserved!

Let’s take a quick look at the lunchbox composition. It’s almost a single item menu, so the composition is very simple! Potato cream and curry are placed on top of the noodles. Chopsticks are not included, so make sure to grab them when purchasing at the convenience store!

The cream and curry are not pre-mixed, and you can mix them after cooking. The chunks in the curry are quite finely chopped, so there should be no problem eating them with the noodles!

And is the parsley sprinkled on top all there is!? Haha, there’s not much else to mention! It seems accurate to say that udon noodles are used instead of rice in curry rice!

Taste of CU Curry Udon Potato Cream
After finishing the simple cooking, I mixed it before tasting! At first, it feels a bit thick, but as the curry and cream mix, the consistency becomes just right, so there’s no big problem mixing it.

The visual doesn’t seem much different from the cream udon menu previously released by CU! Now, let’s taste it right away!

At first, it tastes like a fairly ordinary curry udon, but as you eat, the potato flavor from the cream and curry ingredients becomes quite strong. The potato aroma is strong, making it feel like eating curry made with plenty of potatoes. The chunks were somewhat finely chopped!

Personally, I quite like making curry with plenty of potatoes and onions and eating it without rice, so the potato aroma in the curry seems more familiar to me. Depending on the person, the strong potato aroma compared to the curry aroma might be a matter of preference!

However, the overall taste is quite excellent with a slightly spicy curry base, so I ate it with great enthusiasm. The menu itself is quite good, and it seems sufficient as a meal replacement with a reasonable price and adequate satiety.

If you’re looking for a delicious curry meal at a convenience store, not just curry udon, you can purchase it without hesitation! Although the chunks are somewhat finely chopped, as you eat, you’ll feel like there’s quite a lot! It was a menu worth recommending.
