[Ramen Review] Nongshim Saewootangmyeon Packet Noodles

This review is conducted with products provided by ‘Nongshim’.

Hello! Today’s introduction is Nongshim’s new menu, Shrimp Tangmyeon Bag Noodles. It’s not a completely new menu, as it was released earlier this year as a Homeplus PB product! It was quite popular but was discontinued due to Homeplus’s circumstances, and due to many requests for re-release, it has been officially launched. I also reviewed this product in March this year, so I’m curious about how the official release feels! Shall we check it out right away?

This time, I’m conducting a review with new menus regularly provided by Nongshim, and they told me to just eat and review freely without any special requests, so I think I’ll really review freely. I already tasted it as a Homeplus PB product in March this year… I hope the quality hasn’t dropped, right?

Price and Features of Nongshim Shrimp Tangmyeon

This menu has not been fully released in supermarkets or retail stores yet, so it’s hard to confirm the exact price, but when it was released in March, the regular price was 5,300 won, and you could buy a multipack for 4,800 won at a discount. Considering that similar menus are generally in the mid-5,000 won range, it seems that you can purchase it at a similar price with a 10-15% discount applied!

The main difference in the cooking method is the addition of post-added powder, but there seems to be almost no change in terms of nutritional content. Put all the noodles and soup flakes, and the cooking time is a total of 4 minutes and 30 seconds, which is slightly long. The nutritional information shows a total content of 122g, with 515Kcal of calories and sodium at 90% of the daily recommended amount, the same as when the PB product was released.

Composition of Nongshim Shrimp Tangmyeon

Let’s first check the composition briefly. This menu consists of Nongshim’s basic ramen noodles with soup and flakes, a total of 3 components. It consists of pre-added powder soup, flakes, and post-added powder soup. The post-added powder soup is a newly added part compared to last time!

The pre-added powder soup seems almost the same as when it was released as a PB product before. When I tasted it a little, I was curious about what part had changed.

The flakes also have the same combination of fish cake, dried shrimp, and seaweed! It would be disappointing if shrimp were missing from Shrimp Tangmyeon! Haha

One of the changes in this menu is this post-added powder soup. Generally, when a PB product is converted to a regular product, downgrades are often made to simplify the manufacturing process, but this product has been upgraded instead! When you taste it a little, you can feel the rich taste of seafood, and it makes you look forward to it!

Nongshim Shrimp Tangmyeon Cooking

The cooking method is not difficult, so let’s start right away! First, I put the noodles in boiling water, then added the soup and ingredients.

The aroma rising during boiling doesn’t seem much different from the old Shrimp Tangmyeon! Will it change a bit when I add the post-added soup later!?

Taste of Nongshim Shrimp Tangmyeon

The visual after cooking looks like this. Compared to the existing Shrimp Tangmyeon, there doesn’t seem to be a big difference!

After adding the post-added soup and mixing it evenly, I’ll taste it right away. The broth also feels a bit richer!

Unlike when eating existing cup noodles or PB products, what you feel right from the first taste is the rich shrimp aroma, perhaps? Of course, the existing menu must have had quite a bit of shrimp seasoning, but adding it as a post-added soup gives a really good feeling.

Nongshim Shrimp Tangmyeon Homeplus Product

Since it’s added as a post-added soup, the aroma doesn’t fly away much, and the taste felt from the noodles is similar! Just as Nongshim’s Nongshim Ramen is subtly popular due to its beef aroma, this menu seems to have been inspired similarly.

This menu feels really superior in terms of umami or shrimp aroma compared to cup noodles!

Nongshim Shrimp Tangmyeon Price Comparison Information

The broth’s feeling is not much different, so it was good to feel the richer shrimp aroma. Since the sodium or other nutritional information hasn’t changed much, it seems that they brought a lot from the existing soup to create the taste, and the experts’ efforts to make it taste good even by slightly changing the cooking order must be included, haha.

Usually, compared to just eating the broth with a clean feeling a few times, it feels quite rich and thick, so it seems very good to eat with rice. It seems to be a menu that fully utilizes the advantages of bag noodles compared to regular cup noodles!

I scraped the ingredients very cleanly to the bottom! If you’re tired of squid-type ramen or jjambbong ramen from existing seafood ramen, you might find it quite refreshing. The shrimp aroma is quite strong, and the taste is well captured, so it’s good to eat with rice, and I think it’s a good menu to eat just as it is. Haha
