Hello! The menu I will introduce this time is a collaboration between Ottogi and CU, released as part of the Yellow Kitchen series, called Snack Bar Fish Cake Ramen. It is the third menu following Kimchi Ramen and Egg Ramen. The previous menus received mixed reviews for being too mild or not quite fitting the snack bar concept. Perhaps that’s why this time, they seem to have released a menu that feels more like a snack bar style. Personally, I thought it was quite a unique concept in a market full of spicy ramen. So, let’s find out how this menu is!

Snack Bar Fish Cake Ramen Price and Features
This is a new menu from Yellow Kitchen, which continuously introduces lineups with the concept of the taste you used to enjoy at snack bars. The newly released menu also reflects the snack bar concept! It is composed as a fish cake ramen menu by adding fish cake flakes to the ramen. The price is 2,000 won, and you can purchase it as a 2+1 deal with various CU cup ramen menus until the end of the month, so it might be a good idea to choose wisely.

Microwave use is recommended for cooking! Add the soup and ingredients, pour hot water, and cook for 2 minutes at 1000W. If using only hot water, cook for 4 minutes! The total content is 100g, with 455Kcal of calories, and sodium is at 82% of the daily recommended intake. It seems that sodium content is quite high as it tries to replicate the fish cake broth taste, which often results in more sodium in slightly bland menus!

Snack Bar Ramen Fish Cake Composition and Cooking
Let’s take a quick look at the composition and then proceed to cooking. When you open the lid, you will find noodles, fish cake ingredients, and powdered soup!

The ingredients include a bit of green onion, round fish cake, and square fish cake pieces. It seems they paid a bit more attention to the ingredients since it’s a fish cake ramen! Compared to the fish cake ramen ‘Eora Eora’ released by Paldo before, this one has more fish cake ingredients, while other ingredients seem slightly reduced.

First, I added the powdered soup to the ramen, poured hot water, and cooked it in a 1000W microwave for 2 minutes!

The visual after cooking looks like this. The broth seems to have a slightly reddish tint compared to the expected fish cake broth. Just like the previously mentioned Paldo’s ‘Eora Eora’ had a slight anchovy broth taste, this menu also has a strong fish cake soup aroma.

Of course, it can’t be compared to putting real fish cake in regular ramen, but considering only the ingredients in the basic ramen soup, it seems to have a decent composition for a cup ramen.

Snack Bar Taste of Fish Cake Ramen
Let’s find out what it tastes like right away. The broth is definitely less red than typical ramen, so it doesn’t seem like it will be that spicy! Haha

When you take a bite of the noodles, you can definitely feel that it’s much less spicy compared to regular ramen. Depending on the person, they might think it’s as mild as Jin Ramen Mild!

The fish cake soup taste is quite well implemented, and the umami is quite good as the broth flavor is well absorbed into the noodles, with a spiciness level similar to Jin Ramen Mild. Those who find Jin Ramen Mild a bit greasy might not find this product greasy, but it does have a slightly strong salty taste! Haha

The fish cake also tastes quite good! Usually, adding fish cake to Shin Ramen or Jin Ramen Spicy is delicious, but this ramen seems to focus more on enhancing the fish cake soup taste rather than the spiciness due to its fish cake soup + ramen concept.

It’s a taste that children might like, and just like the previous ramen in the same lineup was quite mild, this ramen also had a similar feel! It seems like it might have been made for elementary school students to eat. However, I’m not sure if it fits the concept of a nostalgic snack bar…

If you prefer a refreshing taste over spicy ramen, you might find this relatively easy to enjoy! The price is reasonable for a convenience store exclusive cup ramen, making it a good choice for a meal along with a menu like a triangle kimbap.
