Hello. Today’s new GS25 lunchbox menu is Hyeja-Style Heaping Table Lunchbox. It launched in 2024 as the flagship item in the “Heaping Table” series. In 2025, only the name changed to the Hyeja lunchbox line. Then it was refreshed again in early 2026. It still stays popular thanks to a fairly generous lineup and decent value for the portion size. I still pick it up sometimes when I want a filling convenience-store meal. So, let’s take a quick look at what’s inside.

Hyeja-Style Heaping Table Lunchbox: Price and Key Features

From what I remember, back in 2023 when “lunchflation” was a big topic, lunchbox trends in 2024 shifted into two tracks: value-for-money and premium. That’s when the Heaping Table lunchbox showed up. Rather than focusing on a clear concept or a tightly designed menu, it felt like they simply packed in every trendy side dish that was selling well at the time.

Even considering it was positioned as a premium lunchbox, the price was quite high at KRW 6,500–6,700. After it moved into the Hyeja lunchbox line, it dropped to KRW 6,300. With this refresh, it’s been lowered again to around KRW 5,900.

Nutrition Info

This lunchbox weighs 479g and comes in at 818kcal. Sodium is about 80% of the recommended daily intake. The total amount is fairly large, yet calories sit in the low 800s. So, compared with multi-side lunchboxes that include lots of fried items or cheese, it feels slightly lower. Also, for the number of sides, the sodium doesn’t seem as high as you might expect.

Hyeja-Style Heaping Table Lunchbox: What’s Inside

Let’s quickly go over the components. In 2024, it launched as a full-on “premium lunchbox” with 11 sides. The “11 sides” concept is still here. However, the smaller side dishes have been changing steadily.

Sides That Changed in the Refresh

First, the supporting sides changed like this: meatballs became stir-fried fish cake, stir-fried zucchini became shredded potatoes, and the rolled omelet became frozen donggeurangttaeng patties. The overall portion didn’t feel drastically different. Still, since one item changes with each refresh, it feels quite different when you compare it side by side with the version from two years ago.

Come to think of it, under the budae ham stir-fry there used to be something else. Maybe dried radish strips or pickles. Now it’s been replaced with mini fried dumplings tossed in seasoning. Overall, it feels like most items have shifted toward frozen or processed foods.

Gochujang Bulbaek Stays, Neobiani Gets Replaced with Ham

The item that changed the least this time is the gochujang bulbaek. Since the first release in 2024, its portion and overall concept haven’t really shifted.

The biggest change is the pressed ham slices. Back in 2024, a fairly large neobiani (tteokgalbi-style patty) sat on top of the rice. At some point it became a smaller, square neobiani. In this version, it’s been switched to plain ham.

Honestly, since most of the items feel like they were borrowed from other lunchboxes, it no longer feels that special. Now that even the neobiani (tteokgalbi-style patty) is gone, it’s a bit disappointing. It feels like a menu where you could swap the label and name, and it wouldn’t matter much.

Hyeja-Style Heaping Table Lunchbox: Taste Test

Still, we have to review the taste. First, I’ll microwave it and try it right away. That said, the lineup is objectively pretty generous. You can definitely eat until you’re full.

Gochujang Bulbaek and Rice

I didn’t notice any major change in the gochujang bulbaek itself. The flavor is solid, and the pork slices are fairly thick, so it has a nice bite. It pairs well with rice. However, since it’s a multi-side lunchbox, each item’s portion can feel a bit small.

Safe, Familiar Sides and the Budae Stir-Fry

Some details have shifted as the menu changed over time. Still, the core side-dish lineup is pretty safe and familiar. It feels like they picked items that most people won’t strongly dislike in a convenience-store lunchbox. Also, the rice portion is quite generous. So I didn’t feel like I was short on rice.

Surprisingly, the budae stir-fry is spicy in a satisfying way and really works with rice. In a way, it pairs almost as well as the gochujang bulbaek. It wasn’t as spicy as I expected, either.

More Processed Foods, Different Overall Quality

Overall, since this lunchbox leans heavily toward processed foods, people who don’t like this style of multi-side lunchbox may not enjoy it much. Thinking back, the old “I didn’t know what you’d like, so I put everything in” multi-side series disappeared. It makes me wonder if those items basically moved over into the Heaping Table line.

It also seems like, as they reorganized the lineup, this menu landed on a middle ground between quality and value.

Final Verdict

Between the ham replacing the tteokgalbi-style patty and everything else, this review left me a bit disappointed. That’s probably because I remember the older quality. Still, if you forget the previous versions and judge it on its own, it’s a decent multi-side lunchbox. Think of it as sitting right in the middle between the older Heaping Table version and the “I put everything in” menu. For KRW 5,900 at this amount of food, the value is not bad. With those points in mind, it works fine as a meal replacement.
