Hello! Today, I am introducing Burger King’s new menu item, the Crisper Buldak Chicken, which is part of Burger King’s chicken burger lineup, the Crisper series. In Korea, it seems that Buldak sauce is an essential combination when it comes to chicken-related menus! Many people love spicy flavors, and since there haven’t been many spicy options on the Burger King menu recently, this is likely welcome news! Let’s take a closer look at what this menu item is all about.
Crisper Buldak Chicken Price and Features
Recently, the K-food category has been gaining a lot of attention, and the chicken burger lineup menu created by Mom’s Touch’s Chef Edward Lee has become a hot topic, gaining popularity. Following this trend, Burger King has introduced two Korean-flavored options using the Crisper menu: Buldak Chicken and Seasoned Chicken. I will first review the Buldak Chicken!
Looking at the price, a single item costs 5,900 won in-store and 6,800 won for delivery. The regular set is 7,900 won in-store and 9,300 won for delivery. You can add about 700 won for the large set. The price is set lower than expected (by Burger King standards)! Since the menu is simple, the regular set is priced under 10,000 won.
Crisper Buldak Chicken Content Composition
When Burger King’s Crisper was first released, there was a lot of anticipation for the addition of a chicken burger lineup using whole chicken breast patties! However, given Burger King’s focus on meat patties, I remember thinking that more menu items with different sauce compositions would be released rather than the original Crisper!
Looking at the overall composition of this menu, it’s a simple addition of sauce to the basic Crisper burger, so there’s nothing particularly eye-catching about its appearance. It seems even simpler than the original Crisper BLT!
Shall we cut it in half and take a look? The Buldak sauce seems to be located between the lettuce, raw onion, and patty, and there’s quite a lot of it!
Looking closely at the composition, it’s simply made up of a burger bun, raw onion, lettuce, Buldak sauce, Crisper patty, and another burger bun! There’s no cheese or pickles, and no mayo sauce is added (probably because it would reduce the spiciness). It seems to be composed solely of Buldak sauce.
In some ways, you might think that the spicy taste would almost completely counteract the greasy taste, and it seems like Burger King has prepared well with this spicy flavor after a long time! It seems they focused on enjoying just the sauce and Crisper patty, excluding other components as much as possible.
Crisper Buldak Chicken Taste
Let’s taste it right away! First of all, compared to the previously released Burger King menu items, it’s relatively small, making it very convenient to eat! Haha.
Once you take a bite, you can definitely tell that the spicy sauce is distinctly different from other Burger King menu items. It’s a different kind of spiciness from the Diablo sauce often encountered in the Monster X lineup. Instead of gradually building up, you can feel the spiciness almost immediately, and it’s quite intense.
The spiciness isn’t just from adding Buldak sauce directly; there’s a slight sweetness in the middle, but it doesn’t detract from the unique spiciness of Buldak, and it harmonizes well with the chicken patty. The basic taste is also good!
And you can really taste the crispy patty of the Crisper burger! It’s quite different from the existing menu that relied on the composition and size of the burger, making it a relatively light menu to enjoy despite the spiciness.
However, considering the composition, the price feels a bit high, making it difficult to speak about value for money. But for those who enjoyed the original Crisper burger or prefer spicy flavors, it’s definitely worth trying!
If you use the Burger King app, you can get discounts in November, and I think the price is quite reasonable for dining in-store. The portion size isn’t excessively large, which can be considered appropriate in some ways! It’s a spicy flavor that Burger King hasn’t highlighted in a while, so I recommend giving it a try.
