[Korean Food] Ottogi Spicy Cream Pasta 7-Eleven Cup Noodles

Hello! Today, I am introducing Ottogi’s new cup noodle menu, released as part of the Kok Kok Kok series, called Spicy Pepper Cream Pasta. This menu was first launched in collaboration with 7-Eleven! It’s a cup noodle style where you leave a little water and mix it, similar to spaghetti and cheese noodles, and it seems to be inspired by Nongshim’s Cheongyang Mayo sauce. It was released as a somewhat unique menu! Let’s find out what kind of menu it is.

Ottogi Spicy Pepper Cream Pasta Price and Features

I previously reviewed the Jjajang Mayo and Ramen Stir-fry from the Ottogi Kok Kok Kok series! It’s been a really long time since a new menu was released. I still mainly eat spaghetti menus. I purchased this menu for 2,000 won at a 7-Eleven convenience store, and since it was first released in collaboration with 7-Eleven, it is only available at convenience stores for the time being!

The concept of this menu is pasta with smooth cream and spicy peppers, slightly arranged in a K-FOOD style. It is made in Ottogi’s unique busy style, allowing you to cook it in the microwave without draining the water and mix it right away.

Busy Style Cooking Method Introduction

The cooking method is to completely remove the lid, pour hot water, and cook in a 1000W microwave for 3 minutes and 30 seconds! Then, just add the powder soup and mix well. You can also cook it in boiling water for 4 minutes, drain the water, and mix it. However, the microwave cooking was the best for the busy style noodles.

Convenience Store Cup Noodle Recommendation List

This menu has a total content of 100g, with 450Kcal of calories, and sodium is about 50% of the daily recommended intake. Compared to regular cup noodles, the calories are slightly lower, and it seems to contain a little less sodium! I expected the calories to be a bit high because it’s cream pasta, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Post-Cooking Sauce Comparison

Ottogi Spicy Pepper Cream Pasta Composition and Cooking Method

Let’s check the composition and cook it right away. There was nothing special to see in the composition. It consists only of noodles and powder soup. There might be small bits in the soup.

First, I poured hot water up to the busy water line and cooked it directly in the microwave! Right after cooking in the microwave, there is a little water left, but you can just add the powder soup and mix it well.

Even while mixing, and after mixing, the noodles absorb a bit of water, making the sauce thicker! This is how it looks when finished. If you adjust the amount of water well and cook it sufficiently, it’s the best, but you can enjoy it with a very thick feeling by cooking it for an additional 10-30 seconds!

The Taste of Ottogi Spicy Pepper Cream Pasta

Let’s start tasting right away! Right after cooking, the broth was somewhat watery, but the noodles quickly absorbed the broth, making it thicker. I picked up a bite and tasted it again.

As expected from a cream pasta noodle, the creamy feeling was quite good! There is a slightly cheesy smell unique to cream, and the umami is quite nice! Above all, the spicy pepper taste balances out the rich flavor quite well!

Convenience Store New Product Introduction Review

Even those who thought such noodles were greasy or slightly overwhelming might find this menu quite enjoyable with its well-captured spiciness! It’s not too spicy, so it’s enough to enjoy moderately. Of course, it felt a bit spicy to me!

Still, the spiciness is generally close to the level of regular bibim noodles! Moreover, the spiciness is not strong but slightly tangy, so it’s not burdensome to eat at all.

Of course, some might still find it a bit greasy. However, if it were made too spicy, the cream pasta noodle feel would have been lost, but the balance was well maintained in this menu.

The existing Kok Kok Kok cup noodle series has a very solid composition, so I thought it would be difficult for a new menu to establish itself. However, this menu seems to have a lot of fans, and it might become a regular menu! Personally, it was a menu I would subtly recommend to those who like cream pasta and a bit of spiciness.
