I picked up the premium Bacon & Cheese version with added bacon and cheese, and for Burger King—a bit of a latecomer in the chicken burger game—it felt like a pretty solid quality. I actually reviewed KFC’s Double Kernel Original just recently, and 2026 is already kicking off with chicken items being released all over the place, so it’s even better for comparisons. This Burger King new item is said to be an upgraded version of the Crisper, which first launched in Korea in April 2025 as the first in Asia, now renewed as “The Crisper.” By adding “The,” they’re emphasizing an even crispier texture and a more standout presence. Prices are as follows.

Since it’s essentially in the same lineup as the “Bacon Tomato Deluxe” and BLT-style versions, the price is a bit higher. Still, compared to Burger King’s other premium lineup items, it can feel relatively affordable. Also, the Burger King app offers a 1,000 won off coupon for a combo, so keep that in mind when you visit a store.

Let’s quickly go over what’s inside. Before the renewal, there were two options: Classic and Classic BLT (the later Buldak and Yangnyeom Chicken versions were separate, of course). This one looks closer to a BLT-style build overall.

You can really tell they used a new batter mix and a tumbling method. That said, the bacon strips are surprisingly small for Burger King.

Instead, it’s basically just the mayo used with the veggies. They say they added a moderate amount of spices so you can enjoy the flavor of the chicken patty itself. Now, let’s dig in. They say it’s gotten crispier after the renewal, so I’m quietly looking forward to it. The moment you take a bite, you immediately notice a very crunchy texture.

There’s a sharp, slightly spicy kick that makes it taste even spicier than KFC’s Kernel Original. It almost made me think this is closer to what an “original” KFC-style chicken patty should taste like.

That was true for the Crisper Classic too, but it’s surprisingly decent. It’s 100% whole chicken breast, which has become harder to find in Korea these days, and if it’s done wrong it can turn very dry. Here, though, it stays crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Objectively, among Lotteria, McDonald’s, and Burger King (excluding KFC and Mom’s Touch), this might be the best quality.

Nothing sticks out too much, and it’s nicely balanced—not too salty, not too spicy, and not overly greasy. If you like chicken burgers, you’ll probably enjoy it without strong love-or-hate reactions.

Now it feels like the potential is rising again. I just hope The Crisper settles in as a regular menu item and stays consistent. It’s that good.

The concept is well executed, and the renewal seems successful at this level. Add in the discount benefits, and it’s a quality option that most people can enjoy without much controversy. I’d recommend it. And honestly, it also feels like a menu item that might get a double-patty version sooner or later.
