Hello. Today’s new Burger King menu item is the The Crisper Bacon & Cheese, newly released in late January 2026. They say it’s a renewal of the Crisper menu that launched in 2025. This time, they added crust crumbs and a tumbling process to a dedicated powder mix to create a chicken patty that’s extra crispy outside and juicy inside. I picked up the premium Bacon & Cheese version with added bacon and cheese, and for Burger King—a bit of a latecomer in the chicken burger game—it felt like a pretty solid quality. Let’s take a closer look at what it’s like.

The Crisper Bacon & Cheese price and highlights

I actually reviewed KFC’s Double Kernel Original just recently, and 2026 is already kicking off with chicken items being released all over the place, so it’s even better for comparisons. This Burger King new item is said to be an upgraded version of the Crisper, which first launched in Korea in April 2025 as the first in Asia, now renewed as “The Crisper.” By adding “The,” they’re emphasizing an even crispier texture and a more standout presence. Prices are as follows.

The Bacon & Cheese version is about 1,000 won more than the regular Crisper. Since it’s essentially in the same lineup as the “Bacon Tomato Deluxe” and BLT-style versions, the price is a bit higher. Still, compared to Burger King’s other premium lineup items, it can feel relatively affordable. Also, the Burger King app offers a 1,000 won off coupon for a combo, so keep that in mind when you visit a store.

Let’s quickly go over what’s inside. Before the renewal, there were two options: Classic and Classic BLT (the later Buldak and Yangnyeom Chicken versions were separate, of course). This one looks closer to a BLT-style build overall.

Compared to the previous BLT Classic, the most noticeable change is the thick cheddar cheese slice placed on top of the chicken patty. Aside from that, from the outside it looks almost the same.

A burger that delivers a rich, hearty flavor

And maybe it’s not just my imagination—when I compared it with photos from my older review, the breading detail on this The Crisper patty looks much more crumbly and definitely crispier. You can really tell they used a new batter mix and a tumbling method. That said, the bacon strips are surprisingly small for Burger King.

A bit disappointing: the bacon presence is weak

Let’s cut it in half and take a closer look. The chicken breast meat in the patty seems pretty similar to before. The pickles, which used to feel a bit thick, seem slightly thinner than in the original. And the sauce also seems to have changed a bit.

The previous version had a special sauce under the chicken patty with pickles and a mustard note, but that seems to be gone this time. Instead, it’s basically just the mayo used with the veggies. They say they added a moderate amount of spices so you can enjoy the flavor of the chicken patty itself. It’s subtle, but quite a lot seems to have changed.

Now, let’s dig in. They say it’s gotten crispier after the renewal, so I’m quietly looking forward to it. The moment you take a bite, you immediately notice a very crunchy texture.

And along with that texture, the sauce flavor is definitely lighter than before, while the patty itself feels more strongly seasoned. There’s a sharp, slightly spicy kick that makes it taste even spicier than KFC’s Kernel Original. It almost made me think this is closer to what an “original” KFC-style chicken patty should taste like.

In the end, Burger King is known for beef patties, so even for a chicken burger they’re likely using a frozen chicken patty and frying it. That was true for the Crisper Classic too, but it’s surprisingly decent. It’s 100% whole chicken breast, which has become harder to find in Korea these days, and if it’s done wrong it can turn very dry. Here, though, it stays crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Objectively, among Lotteria, McDonald’s, and Burger King (excluding KFC and Mom’s Touch), this might be the best quality.

A well-balanced, classic chicken burger flavor

The bacon is so thin that it barely registers, but the rest of the veggie build works well. Nothing sticks out too much, and it’s nicely balanced—not too salty, not too spicy, and not overly greasy. If you like chicken burgers, you’ll probably enjoy it without strong love-or-hate reactions.

Personally, I thought the Burger King Crisper Classic was pretty decent, but after that they rolled out items like Garlic, Buldak, Yangnyeom Chicken, and then randomly something like Chicken Cheese Mayo. Now it feels like the potential is rising again. I just hope The Crisper settles in as a regular menu item and stays consistent. It’s that good.

For me, it was a satisfying chicken burger that checks all the boxes: crunch, value, and balance. It felt true to the basics of what a chicken burger should be. The concept is well executed, and the renewal seems successful at this level. Add in the discount benefits, and it’s a quality option that most people can enjoy without much controversy. I’d recommend it. And honestly, it also feels like a menu item that might get a double-patty version sooner or later.
