Hello. Today’s new Subway sandwich menu is Pizza Sub. Subway usually rolls out thick, meat-heavy sandwiches in a big way at the end of the year. Then new releases tend to slow down until spring. This time, they launched a very light, in-between-seasons kind of menu. It feels like an Italian B.M.T.-style build with pizza ingredients added in. It was easy to eat lightly. It also felt a bit different from the usual lineup, so it was fun in a new way. So, let’s take a closer look.

Subway Pizza Sub Price & Features
This menu matters because it’s a pizza-style sandwich. Still, the real highlight is probably the price. At a base price of KRW 4,300, it’s a pretty good value. The default build feels like an Italian B.M.T. with the ingredients lightly adjusted.
However, if you could freely change the ingredients, the menu’s identity could fall apart. So, customization is completely disabled. Even for delivery orders, you can’t request any add-ons or changes.

Since the build is simplified and there isn’t much inside, the size is fairly compact. The store I order from often wraps sandwiches very tightly so nothing leaks out. That may be part of it. Even so, it does feel a bit small.
I used to like adding light veggies to the Meatball menu. So, if the flavor is good, this could also work as a sneaky good-value pick.

There isn’t much to break down, to be honest. Still, let’s take a look. As mentioned earlier, the shop I ordered from wraps the bread very tightly. It almost looks like a chunk of wood. The bread is Honey Oat by default, and you can’t change it.

It’s hard to see as-is, so I’ll cut it in half to check the inside. On the outer and inner sides, you get pepperoni and cheese. Inside, the veggies are simple: green bell pepper, black olives, and onion.

The tomato salsa sauce is spread on the outer side, and mayonnaise is inside. Other than that, there’s nothing else visible. Looking up the press release, it seems there aren’t any additional components.

It’s more like it’s “warmed up” just enough to slightly melt the cheese. So the aroma and overall feel should be quite different from pizza bread too. I’m really curious how it comes across.

Now, let’s taste it. Based on the overall build, I’m expecting something close to pizza bread. Add veggies, pepperoni, tomato sauce, and cheese to bread, and it’s basically the same, right? Haha.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netSimilar to Pizza Bread, Yet Different
After the first bite, the first impression is that it tastes very similar. Still, as I mentioned earlier, whether it’s baked in an oven or not makes a bigger difference than you’d think. Compared to pizza bread, the ingredients taste a bit more “fresh,” almost leaning raw.

There isn’t much to critique beyond “pizza bread, but with less-cooked ingredients.” However, compared to pizza bread from a bakery, the veggies and pepperoni are fairly substantial. Above all, the tomato sauce tastes closer to an original marinara than to ketchup-like tomato sauce. That’s where it earns extra points.

Taking all of that into account, it feels just right if you think of it as pizza bread turned into a salad-style sandwich. Personally, after the Meatball menu disappeared, Subway became harder to justify. Other meat-loaded options are simply too expensive for a sandwich. In that context, a menu like this is always welcome. The value is quietly solid too.

That said, if your goal is a light bite, it won’t be a big issue. I ordered it as a combo and even had a cookie, but it still didn’t feel especially filling.

Personally, I was satisfied because it’s a light sandwich with good value. It has a pizza-bread-like vibe, yet it’s more loaded with veggies and pepperoni, so it felt more satisfying than typical bakery pizza bread. In particular, I liked that the tomato salsa sauce tasted closer to an original marinara rather than ketchup. With the Meatball menu gone, it worked well as a good-value alternative.
However, it may not be enough for a full meal. Also, since it’s warmed rather than baked, the ingredients can feel a bit closer to raw compared to pizza bread. I recommend it if you want something light and simple, or if you’re looking for a good-value sandwich.
