[Convenience Store Lunchbox Review] CU Changnyeong Garlic Pork Rib Pasta

Hello! Today, I am introducing CU’s new lunchbox menu, which is part of the Save the Farm Project: Changnyeong Garlic Pork Rib Pasta.

Dish using Changnyeong specialty

In our country, when it comes to garlic, Changnyeong garlic is so famous that hardly anyone would disagree. Several unique menus using Changnyeong garlic have been released! Today, I want to review the most unique menu among them, the Garlic Pork Rib Pasta! Let’s find out what kind of menu it is!

Changnyeong Garlic Pork Rib Pasta Price and Features

Actually, this new CU menu includes not only pasta but also a variety of menus called Changnyeong Garlic Ready Meals, such as burgers, gimbap, triangle gimbap, and lunchboxes! Since the main ingredient is close to pork ribs, there are so many variations possible! However, since other menus like lunchboxes have been widely available as convenience store menus, I will only review the pasta this time! It’s a fusion Korean dish, so I can’t miss it!

This menu is a pasta made with Changnyeong fresh garlic and pork ribs, with the main concept being ‘pasta topped with plenty of stir-fried pork ribs with domestic Changnyeong garlic.’ The price is 5,000 won, which is slightly higher than CU’s regular lunchbox lineup! Still, since CU makes good pasta lunchboxes, I think the cost-effectiveness might be okay. 😊

The total content of this menu is 363g, with a calorie count of 696Kcal, and sodium at 67% of the daily recommended intake. The content and calories seem sufficient for a meal! Since it includes pork, rib sauce, and oil, the calories might be slightly high. Looking closely at the ingredients, the garlic flavor is definitely from Changnyeong garlic, but various seasoning extracts and powders for garlic flavor are imported! 😂

Changnyeong Garlic Pork Rib Pasta Composition

Let’s quickly check the composition! As with any single pasta lunchbox, there’s not much to see! You just need to look at the pasta and the sauce on top! This time, as seen in the concept earlier, it’s topped with plenty of stir-fried pork ribs with garlic.

Since it’s a pasta sauce, the meat is finely chopped and stir-fried! If you look closely, you can see that the garlic is also finely chopped and added. It seems they chopped it larger than expected to make the presence of garlic clear. 😊

Convenience Store New Menu Recommendation List

After cooking it in the microwave, I mixed it right away. The garlic aroma is quite strong, more than expected! The sauce feels more like a pork rib side dish, so I mixed it well until it was just right.

Changnyeong Garlic Pork Rib Pasta Taste

Let’s check how it tastes! CU convenience store surprisingly releases these unique pasta menus, so I’m quite looking forward to it!

When you take a bite, the garlic flavor is as strong as the aroma, which is the most noticeable! With garlic extract, garlic powder, and even real garlic, it’s no wonder!

The pork ribs have a slightly sweet and salty soy sauce flavor! If you had made pork ribs with just this, it would have been very plain, but with the rich garlic aroma, it creates a very unique taste.

Fresh Garlic Juicy Pasta

Some people might find the garlic aroma a bit pungent. 😊 It’s not to the point where raw garlic is inedible, but for those who are sensitive, it might be a bit challenging. I enjoyed it, though! 😂

Other than that, it was a fairly standard soy sauce pork rib and pasta combination menu. If you can handle the slightly strong garlic aroma, the taste itself is quite enjoyable! The portion is filling, and the cost-effectiveness is decent, making it a sufficient meal for lunch!
