CU Pbick Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap Lunch Box [Korean Food]

Bibimbap is about as fundamental as Korean food gets, which makes it a useful test of any convenience store’s kitchen. CU’s newest lunch box is the Pbick Bulgogi Bibimbap. With the Pbick line’s overall renewal now largely finished, the new two-tier double meal set arrived first and older items are gradually being refreshed behind it. Lately that has meant bibimbap built around seasonal greens and vegetables, alongside revivals of items that were discontinued a while back. This is one of those revivals. Since it’s the most basic bibimbap on the shelf, I was curious how it would taste. Let’s have a look.

Price and Background of This Bulgogi Bibimbap

Because this is such a fundamental item, it has gone through renewals fairly often. The closest recent predecessor was the K-FOOD Bulgogi Bibimbap. That one launched in mid-2025, also at 5,500 won, and was discontinued during the Pbick renewal. It’s fair to treat this as its successor. The price stays exactly the same at 5,500 won. The fried egg is still in there too.

Weight, Calories and Heating Time

Total net weight comes to 372g with 544Kcal, and sodium sits at 61% of the daily value. As a convenience store lunch box, neither the portion nor the calorie count runs especially high. Heating takes 1 minute 40 seconds in a 1,000W microwave. The inner film on the lid needs to come off first.

What’s in the Tray

Let’s run through the contents. Being a bibimbap, a plastic spoon comes included as standard. As usual with lunch box cutlery, it isn’t especially large. Use it if you have nothing else, though a proper spoon works better. As for the layout, nothing much seems to have changed from the earlier version.

There are five toppings in total. Mine got jostled somewhere along the way so the arrangement looks a bit messy, but starting from the one o’clock position you get beef bulgogi, bean sprouts, julienned carrot, shiitake and stir-fried zucchini. The sauce comes pre-mixed with gochujang and sesame oil.

The other toppings look much the same as before, though the bulgogi portion does feel smaller. It might just be clumped together, or the total weight could be identical with one large piece making it read differently. Either way, that part is a little disappointing.

Heating and Mixing It Up

Open the topping tray and underneath you’ll find the rice and egg. I moved all the toppings on top and microwaved the whole thing for 1 minute 40 seconds at 1,000W.

Once the microwave finished, I poured in the entire cup of gochujang and sesame oil sauce and mixed everything together. I used a regular spoon from home rather than the included one. As with most trays like this, nothing is hard to mix except the bean sprouts.

Here’s the finished bowl. What do you think? It’s close to a standard bibimbap, so the look is one you’ve probably seen many times before. I’d worried the beef was short, yet once everything was mixed it stopped mattering much. If the basic flavor holds up, this should be perfectly satisfying.

Taste Test: Do the Fundamentals Hold?

Time to taste it. Rather than anything extraordinary, what matters with a dish like this is whether the fundamentals are solid. I took a big spoonful and dug in.

The gochujang is lightly sweet and moderately spicy, and the sesame oil is nuttier than expected. Mix that with the assorted vegetables and rice and the verdict lands immediately: very basic, very well built. The egg adds a bit of richness that works surprisingly well too.

The vegetables have been cooked once already, so they don’t taste raw. Anyone who prefers wild greens or vegetables simply washed and sliced fresh may find them a touch on the cooked side. Even so, everything a bibimbap should contain is present. Nothing feels out of place, so opinions are unlikely to split much.

This captures the flavor most people picture when they hear the word bibimbap, and it does so within a convenience store lunch box. Moreover, nothing has been noticeably downgraded relative to other CU bibimbap items, so you can pick it up without a second thought.

Has the Beef Portion Really Shrunk?

The beef pieces in this box are large, which may be why it feels slightly reduced compared with last time. That could easily be down to the particular tray I picked up, so it’s hard to call it a genuine flaw. In any case, the seasoning on the bulgogi never felt lacking. That in turn lets the other ingredients come through more strongly, the shiitake especially.

Final Verdict

In some ways this differs from what came before, but as a renewal roughly a year on, the price hasn’t gone up. Nor has the flavor changed or fallen short of expectations, so it’s simply an enjoyable meal. If you want to settle lunch quickly with a convenience store box, this one won’t leave you with regrets. Visitors to Korea will find it a straightforward introduction to bibimbap, since the sauce comes pre-mixed and there’s nothing to guess at.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much does the Pbick Bulgogi Bibimbap cost?

It costs 5,500 won. The K-FOOD Bulgogi Bibimbap that launched in mid-2025 and was later discontinued sold at the same 5,500 won, so roughly a year on the price hasn’t moved.

Q. Is this a good first bibimbap for someone new to Korean food?

Yes, largely because nothing about it is challenging. The gochujang is mildly sweet and only moderately spicy, the sauce arrives pre-mixed with sesame oil, and every component a bibimbap should have is present.

Q. What toppings are included?

Five in total: beef bulgogi, bean sprouts, julienned carrot, shiitake and stir-fried zucchini, arranged clockwise from one o’clock. An egg sits under the rice layer as well.

Q. How do I heat and mix it properly?

Peel off the inner lid film, tip all the toppings onto the rice, then microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds at 1,000W. Pour in the whole sauce cup and stir. Only the bean sprouts put up any resistance.
