Hello! Today’s McDonald’s new release is the McDonald’s Mac & Cheese Double Beef Burger, launched to mark the World Cup. The Spicy Mac & Cheese Burger — a brief 2021 release that was later discontinued — is back, this time alongside a Mac & Cheese Spicy Chicken, as McDonald’s World Cup lineup. It’s a single for 8,100 won in-store. Intriguingly, it reuses the soccer bun from the Pepperoni Pizza Burger of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. As distinctive in flavor as it is in shape, this mac and cheese burger had plenty to unpack. So, shall we take a closer look?

Mac & Cheese Double Beef Burger Price and Features
To celebrate this World Cup, McDonald’s rolled out two new menu items: the Mac & Cheese Spicy Chicken and the Mac & Cheese Double Beef. I’d assumed they were brand-new, but they’re actually a return of the Spicy Mac & Cheese Burger that launched in 2021 and was later discontinued. Let’s check the prices.
- Mac & Cheese Double Beef single: 8,100 won in-store / 9,000 won delivery
- Mac & Cheese Spicy Chicken single: 9,400 won in-store / 8,900 won delivery
- Mac & Cheese Double Beef set: 8,000 won in-store / 10,900 won delivery
- Mac & Cheese Spicy Chicken set: 9,400 won in-store / 9,800 won delivery
For reference, the McLunch price knocks roughly 500 won off the in-store set price. On price alone, it feels a touch more expensive than the 1955 or the Big Mac, so I’m quite curious how the overall flavor holds up. That said, no matter how good it tastes, the value feels a little weak.

However hard McDonald’s works on its chicken burgers, the beef patty is still the heart of it, so I went with the Double Beef. Haha. I’d actually never tried the old Spicy Mac & Cheese Burger. Still, back in 2022 there was a similar item — the Triple Mac & Cheese from No Brand, E-Mart’s budget label — that I had tried, so I do have a point of reference. It had a thick, gooey blend of cheddar, blue, and Swiss cheese, so I’m quietly curious how this one differs.

Let’s run through the build. As I mentioned, this menu brings back the soccer bun from the Pepperoni Pizza Burger released for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. It’s such a distinctive bun that I still remember it, and I recall it being pleasantly chewy. Haha. I’m curious how it’ll be this time.

Since the base is mac and cheese, though, the sliced cheese that used to sit between the double patties doesn’t seem to be included here.

Now let’s cut it in half to check the layers. Maybe because it’s mac and cheese, a fair amount of sauce oozes out when you slice it — I managed to tidy it back up (sort of). From the top down it’s mac and cheese, lettuce, a tomato slice, and the double beef patty. There don’t seem to be any extra sauces or cheese. No pickles, either.

Alright, let’s dig in. It might be partly because I’d already unwrapped it, but when you grip it firmly from top and bottom, the sauce really squeezes out the sides. You’ll want to hold it gently as you eat. Haha.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netFrom the very first bite, the aroma and taste of rich cheddar cheese sauce spread right through your mouth. It’s a slightly funky, salty cheese scent, so it hits before most of the other ingredients and lingers the longest. If they’d added another sauce on top of this, it definitely would have felt a bit much.

The juiciness and meaty aroma of the double beef patty paired reasonably well here, but as I said, the cheddar sauce blankets the overall flavor, so the double beef doesn’t land as strongly as it does in other menus. Personally, I felt the similarly released Meat Chili suited it better.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netThat said, if you’re not a fan of mac and cheese to begin with, plus the slight greasiness that builds toward the end, opinions may be a little split. With only lettuce and tomato as vegetables, there’s nothing to cut through the cheese aroma except the soda I’d ordered alongside, which was a slight sticking point. Even the Quarter Pounder can feel like a lot to finish without pickles for some people.

Personally it was a fairly satisfying burger, but factoring in value, it left me thinking about whether I got my money’s worth. It runs a bit pricier than the earlier Double Beef menus, and it’s even more expensive than the Big Mac, McDonald’s standard. Call it a version with weaker meat flavor and stronger cheese flavor than the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

It also had less cheese aroma than the No Brand mac and cheese, making it a bit less heavy. Haha. All in all, it was a menu I can reasonably recommend. And if you’re visiting Korea during the World Cup season, it’s an easy one to grab while it’s around.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much does the McDonald’s Mac & Cheese Double Beef Burger cost?
A single is 8,100 won in-store, and delivery is 9,000 won. At McLunch, the set drops by about 500 won off the in-store price. It’s a touch pricier than the Big Mac, so the value can feel so-so.
Q. What’s inside the Mac & Cheese Double Beef Burger?
From the top, it stacks mac and cheese sauce, lettuce, a tomato slice, and a double beef patty. The bun is the soccer-shaped one. There’s no extra sauce, sliced cheese, or pickles.
Q. What does the Mac & Cheese Double Beef Burger taste like?
Personally, the rich cheddar cheese sauce dominates from the first bite. The double beef juices pair well but get somewhat buried under the cheese. It can feel a little greasy toward the end, so it may be polarizing.
