Hello! Today’s new Puradak Chicken menu item is the Red Chili Mayo, or Hong Gochu Mayo in Korean. It launched on October 21, 2026. This is a new mayo-based chicken that follows Puradak’s signature Chili Mayo chicken (gochu mayo). A special red chili mayo sauce, made with red chili instead of green chili, comes topped with crunch flakes and crushed red pepper. That packs spice and crunch into one dish. At 22,900 won, it is yet another mayo chicken after the Mayo-peno I reviewed not long ago. So I was quietly curious how the two differ. What exactly is this chicken? Let’s find out.

Puradak Red Chili Mayo: Price and Highlights
This menu leads with the slogan “Mayo Powerhouse Puradak.” It stretches the mayo lineup one step further after Chili Mayo and Mayo-peno. Chili Mayo is the sharp kind of spicy, and Mayo-peno is the fresh kind. This one seems to be all about a tingling heat. I already liked Chili Mayo. So I was curious how the red chili version would taste and ordered it right away. Ha. Let’s check the prices first.
- Red Chili Mayo: 22,900 won / delivery app 25,900 won
- Boneless (Thigh) Red Chili Mayo: 26,900 won / delivery app 29,900 won
- Red Chili Mayo Wing Combo: 26,900 won / delivery app 29,900 won
It costs 1,000 won more than the regular Chili Mayo chicken (21,900 won). That puts it in the same price range as Mayo-peno. The boneless and wing combo versions add 4,000 won, so the price feels a little steep again this time. The listed prices are suggested retail prices and may differ slightly by store. Check before you order. A 5,000 won coupon was issued in the delivery app, so I ended up ordering for less than I expected. Ha.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netWhat sets this menu apart is that the sauce is not simply drizzled on. The Thin Fried (Puradak’s thin-battered fried chicken) gets stir-fried once with the red chili mayo sauce in a frying pan. As a result, the sauce soaks deep into the chicken. The crunch is also promoted as staying crisp without going soggy easily over time. Still, for a change after a long while, I ordered the bone-in version this time instead of boneless. The sauce that comes with it is the standard Chili Mayo sauce. There is also pickled radish with a danmuji (yellow pickled radish) feel.

Let’s take a quick look at what comes in the box. The moment I opened it, the vivid red color jumped out at me. Unlike Chili Mayo, which is topped with green chili, the whole thing has a reddish glow. You can tell at a glance why it is called Red Chili Mayo.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netThe chicken is Thin Fried, made with Puradak’s oven-fried method. It is baked once in a 210℃ oven and then lightly fried in clean oil. So the coating comes out thin and crisp. The red chili mayo sauce coats it evenly. There is so much sauce soaked in that you don’t need to dip it in anything else.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netThe toppings are crunch flakes and crushed red pepper. Crunch flakes add a crisp texture, while crushed red pepper takes care of the sharp heat and the red look. True to Puradak’s generous toppings, the amount was quite hefty again this time. They also include fried tteok (rice cakes) to eat with the spicy sauce. That is a bonus, if you want to call it that. Ha. After all, isn’t a generous spread of extras alongside the chicken what Puradak is known for?

Now let’s dig in. From the very first big bite, the savory, smooth mayo sauce hits first. Then the heat of the red chili follows clearly behind it. If Chili Mayo leaned sweet and tangy, Red Chili Mayo is firmly weighted toward the spicy side. It felt like the spiciest of the existing mayo lineup.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netPerhaps because the sauce was stir-fried in the pan, it did not slide off and stuck firmly to the chicken. The boneless chicken thigh meat was juicy as I chewed. The spicy, savory flavor of the sauce came through evenly with every bite. Because Thin Fried has a thin coating, the sauce flavor seemed to stand out even more.

The crunch flakes were the texture highlight of this menu. Even with sauce on them, the crispness held up well, which made chewing fun. The crushed red pepper added a sharp kick of heat here and there. However, the toppings are only sprinkled on top. It was a little disappointing that they barely reached the pieces underneath. Ha. If they had given extra crumble separately, like the XO Kungpao Big Thigh Boneless, it would have been quite nice.

The heat was not especially numbing, since the mayo softly wraps around the spice. That said, the spiciness builds up bit by bit as you keep eating. If you don’t handle spicy food well, it is a good idea to have pickled radish or a drink alongside.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netIn the second half, the richness of the mayo sauce felt a little heavy at moments. Even so, the red chili’s heat kept cutting through the greasiness. I could finish it without tiring of it, more easily than with Chili Mayo. It would also go well as a beer snack. Ha.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netWhen it gets too spicy, eating the unsauced tteok one piece at a time helps a little. They could have tossed the tteok in sauce. It turns out there is a reason they put it in just as fried. Ha.

ⓒ
Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netThe sauce on the chicken itself has a slightly sharp edge. Still, dipping the pieces in the Chili Mayo sauce was excellent for calming the heat a little. Ha. The pairing with that sauce works quite well. Ordering one more to enjoy generously is also, quietly, worth recommending.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netFinal Verdict: Chili Mayo, Spicier and Crunchier
Personally, I think it is the spicy version of mayo chicken. It is well worth trying at least once for anyone who liked Puradak’s Chili Mayo. The stir-fried sauce soaks into the chicken nicely. Thanks to the crunch flakes, the crisp texture lasted right to the end. However, the price of around 26,000 won for boneless is still on the steep side. It may feel a little disappointing for those who care most about value for money. If you are in Korea and already enjoy Puradak’s mayo chicken, this is the spicier pick in that lineup.

Copyright PAKOC https://pakoc.netI recommend it to people who like Chili Mayo chicken or are looking for a spicy yet savory mayo chicken. It also suits anyone who likes chicken piled with crunchy toppings. It is a bit pricey. Still, I have quietly enjoyed every Puradak order, and I had no regrets this time either. Ha.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much is Puradak’s Red Chili Mayo?
The suggested retail price is 22,900 won. Both the Boneless (Thigh) Red Chili Mayo and the Red Chili Mayo Wing Combo are 26,900 won. On the delivery app, the three items are listed at 25,900, 29,900 and 29,900 won respectively. Prices may differ slightly by store, so check before you order.
Q. What does Red Chili Mayo taste like?
Personally, I got the savory, smooth mayo first, followed by a clear kick from the red chili. Where Chili Mayo leaned sweet and tangy, Red Chili Mayo is weighted toward spicy. It felt like the spiciest of the existing mayo lineup.
Q. Is Red Chili Mayo very spicy?
It was not numbingly spicy, because the mayo softly wraps around the heat. The spice does build up as you eat, though. If you don’t handle spicy food well, have pickled radish or a drink alongside. Unsauced tteok or a dip in the Chili Mayo sauce also takes the edge off.
Q. Is Red Chili Mayo worth the price?
That depends on how much weight you put on cost-effectiveness. The sauce soaks into the chicken well, and the crunch lasts to the end. However, at around 26,000 won for boneless, the price is still on the steep side. It may feel slightly disappointing if value matters most.
