The new Mom’s Touch release I’m covering today is the Hu Deok-juk XO Kungpao series. It’s another team-up with Chef Hu Deok-juk, a master of Chinese cuisine. Quite a few items launched in this collection. I picked one burger and one chicken to try together: the Kungpao Thigh Burger and the XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless. The burger adds a sweet-and-spicy Kungpao sauce and cashews. The boneless chicken gets an XO Sichuan crumble made with XO sauce and sancho pepper. Both lean fully into Chinese flavors. The Kungpao Thigh Burger is 7,600 won on its own and the XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless is 16,900 won. There is also an XO Kungpao Set that bundles the two. So what are they actually like? Let’s find out.

Mom’s Touch XO Kungpao: Prices and Highlights

This Hu Deok-juk XO Kungpao series is the second Hu Deok-juk collection, launched on October 22, 2026, following the first collection in March. Chef Hu Deok-juk and the Mom’s Touch R&D team developed it together over about six months. It consists of four items in all: the Kungpao Thigh Burger, the XO Whole Mozzarella Shrimp Burger, the XO Shrimp Thigh Flex Burger and the XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless. Let’s check the prices of the two items I’m reviewing today.

  • Hu Deok-juk Kungpao Thigh Burger, in-store price: burger alone 7,600 won / set 10,100 won
  • Hu Deok-juk XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless, in-store price: regular 16,900 won / MAX 25,400 won
  • Hu Deok-juk XO Kungpao Set (Kungpao Thigh Burger + XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless + cola): 24,500 won

This time I ordered the Kungpao Thigh Burger and the XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless together. I remember enjoying the first Hu Deok-juk collection quite a lot. So I was curious to see how this one handles two more Chinese-style sauces, Kungpao and XO Sichuan. Ha. By the way, to mark the launch, the Mom’s Touch app offered a first-come 3,500 won discount coupon for the XO Kungpao Set through October 25. It’s worth checking app coupons from time to time.

Kungpao Thigh Burger: What’s Inside

Let’s start with the Kungpao Thigh Burger and take a quick look at what’s inside. As soon as I opened the packaging, a tall burger appeared. The ingredients were stacked so high that I worried cutting it in half would make it collapse, so I left it whole. Even uncut, the build was easy to see from the side because it was so packed with fillings.

Looking from the bottom up, there is Kungpao sauce. On top of it come more Kungpao sauce and the cashew vegetable patty, the heart of this burger. Above that sits Mom’s Touch’s signature chicken-thigh patty. The cashew vegetable patty is made by pressing together chili peppers, scallions, mushrooms and cashews, the key ingredients of a gongbao dish. That’s why big chunks of cashew are visibly studded along its side.

Above that, diced gungchae (celtuce stem), which was also used in the first collection, stands in for the pickles. Lettuce and mayo sauce finish the top. The burger alone weighs 283 g and comes to 779 kcal, which is quite filling given that it holds two kinds of patties. Think of it as a classic gongbao dish packed whole into a single Thigh Burger.

XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless: What’s Inside

Next, let’s see what’s in the XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless. As soon as I opened the box, the sight of reddish crumble heaped over everything caught my eye. A savory, peppery aroma rose up, and the whole vibe was clearly different from ordinary boneless chicken. It’s made from 100% chicken thigh, so each piece is also quite big.

The distinctive detail this time is that the chicken is coated with crumble instead of being tossed in sauce. The XO Sichuan crumble clings densely to Mom’s Touch’s signature bumpy coating. Between the crumbs, garlic-chip-like pieces and green herbs are mixed in, which makes it look quite flashy. I hear that in store the crumble is tossed over the chicken entirely, while delivery orders come with the crumble packed separately to keep it crisp. Mine looked as if only some of it had been sprinkled on. Ha.

The newly introduced XO Sichuan crumble is a special crumble that adds the tangy kick of sancho pepper to the savory depth of XO sauce. Garlic and breadcrumbs give it a crispy texture. Extra crumble came on the side too, so I could sprinkle on more to taste as I ate. The nutrition is 310 kcal per 100 g, and the regular size weighs 542 g in total. Think of it as a boneless chicken that wraps the flavors of Sichuan cooking in a crispy layer.

On top of that, the quality of the XO Sichuan crumble that came with this order is remarkable. Tasting a little, it adds a touch of crispiness and a touch of Chinese-style flavor, which seems likely to become a big selling point.

Kungpao Thigh Burger: Taste Test

Now let’s dig into the Kungpao Thigh Burger. With the first big bite, a spicy aroma reminiscent of Sichuan cooking rose up first. At first you get the heat of the Kungpao sauce, followed by a mellow sweetness, a classic sweet-and-spicy style.

The thigh patty was as dependable as ever. Inside the crispy coating, the chicken thigh was moist and tender, and it paired well with the rich Kungpao sauce. Even when the sauce soaked into the coating, the crunch held up better than I expected.

The real charm of this burger was clearly the cashew vegetable patty. With every bite, the nutty taste of cashew pops out. Subtle aromas of chili pepper, scallion and mushroom blend in, so it felt like eating a real gongbao dish. Diced gungchae neatly cut through the overall richness, which I found quite appealing.

Texture-wise, it was varied too. A crispy thigh patty, nutty cashews, crunchy diced gungchae and lettuce all came together in one bite, so it never got monotonous. Since the diced gungchae stands in for the pickles, it cut the richness with a crunchy, clean taste instead of tanginess.

About halfway through, the heat builds up little by little. Still, it isn’t numbingly spicy, so even people who don’t handle spice well can manage it. That said, the sauce is rich and the fillings are generous, so it tends to drip as you eat. I recommend holding the wrapper firmly.

XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless: Taste Test

Next I tried the XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless right away. With the first big bite, the crunch of the crumble came together with the rich savory depth of XO sauce. It doesn’t quite have the subtle seafood flavor that XO sauce is known for. Still, from the very first bite it tasted clearly different from ordinary seasoned fried chicken.

Sancho Kick and Juicy Thigh Meat

After that, the tangy bite of sancho pepper lightly touches the tip of the tongue. It isn’t strong enough to numb your mouth. Instead, the fragrant, sharp feel typical of Sichuan cooking lingers gently, so even first-timers should be able to enjoy it without strain. Since this isn’t a sauce-tossed type, though, you’ll need to accept a slight imbalance (?) in flavor.

As you’d expect from Big Thigh Boneless, the inside was moist and tender. Each bite of the thick meat released juices, and the contrast with the crunch of the crumble made the texture really good.

Extra Crumble and Side Tips

Next I sprinkled on plenty of crumble and ate it that way. The garlic in the crumble boosted the savory taste, and thanks to the crunch of the breadcrumbs, the texture held up through to the last piece. With plenty of extra crumble sprinkled on, the Sichuan aroma got much stronger, so it became a different taste to enjoy. Ha.

Honestly, the crumble is the kick of this item. Like the dipping sauce people use when eating lamb, using it generously, without holding back, will let you really taste it. Ha.

Past the midpoint, the salty crumble and the spiciness build up little by little. Pairing it with pickled radish or cola at this point cleans up your mouth, so I could enjoy it all the way through. (Mom’s Touch doesn’t send pickled radish if you order it separately, so keep that in mind. Ha.) Also, the crumble falls off easily, so eating can get a little messy.

Final Verdict: Chinese Flavors Blended Into a Burger and Boneless Chicken

Personally, I think this Hu Deok-juk XO Kungpao series, like the first collection, blends Chinese flavors naturally into Mom’s Touch’s familiar thigh patty and Big Thigh Boneless. The Kungpao Thigh Burger stood out for the nutty, sweet-and-spicy taste from its cashew vegetable patty. The XO Sichuan Big Thigh Boneless stood out for its crispy crumble and the tangy kick of sancho pepper. If you like Chinese flavors, want a burger and boneless chicken in one go, or are hunting for an unusual snack to go with beer, I recommend trying both together in the XO Kungpao Set. If you’re in Korea and curious about Chinese-style fast food, that set is an easy way to taste both in one order.
